Hey Hot Tubbers, welcome to the podcast Tub Talk with the Hot Tub Lady. I am Jackie Johnson, your host and joining me is I'm Frank. Welcome to the podcast, everyone. I am so excited to see you all. Let me see if I can get this camera fixed, just a little bit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, sorry folks, we're running a little bit behind today. We had some cold weather here, show up in Sioux Falls and some icy roads and Out in the field a little bit later than I thought, but let's get on with it.
Speaker 1:I'm trying so you talk all the time. I can't keep talking the few minutes I need you to talk.
Speaker 2:Oh, you need me to talk.
Speaker 1:I need you to talk.
Speaker 2:Welcome everybody. Welcome to the show. Appreciate everybody being here. Very knowledgeable show. Hopefully everybody gets a little bit of information out of us both.
Speaker 2:Say Jackie's been in the field for a long time so over 20 something probably 30 years now and I'm new to the game but been thrown into it and learned a lot, met a lot of great customers here in this past eight months. It's been very overwhelming and for you out there listening today, hopefully I can keep you informed on all the new things that are coming and all the expectations that we need to know and the wonderful life of hot tubbing.
Speaker 1:The wonderful life of hot tubbing. So, guys, again, thank you so much for joining us and if you're new to the podcast, welcome. We're super glad you are here and that's one of the things that we're super excited about. We do live stream every Tuesday night at 6.30. So you can definitely see us here. For that, definitely shoot us a comment, or we got Kyle and Kayla in the chat moderating that. And if you don't watch us on YouTube, we do drop the new podcast episode every Wednesday morning so you can listen wherever you listen to your favorite podcast. So that is one of the things that we are doing there. My program is not working correctly, so I apologize for the crop screen, but we will get that fixed next time. But in the meantime, let's just get started. We're going to do our new Tub Time Friends. Look at that, I got cool new rabbits.
Speaker 2:That's pretty cool, great job.
Speaker 1:That's why the screen didn't work before is because I was messing with that. Anyway, those of you watching that was pretty cool that I accomplished that there. But tub time trends that is one of the things that we're going to talk about. That's one of our new segments that we're going to talk about every week, and this week's tub time trends is that. Did you know that hot tubs are no longer a luxury item, they're actually an appliance. Did you know that they're actually categorized as an appliance?
Speaker 2:Just tonight.
Speaker 1:Just tonight you learned that it has been my. If you guys have followed me for any amount of time, I do believe that anybody who is breathing and has a heartbeat and has a home, you need to have a hot tub. It's something that everybody should have in their backyard. It's going to make you feel better. It's going to make you sleep better. It's going to make you do all the things. It's a wellness machine.
Speaker 2:Yes, it is. It's a bowl of medicine.
Speaker 1:It is a bowl of medicine. I was in mine this morning and it was that light, fluffy snow this morning before the sun came up. So those of you who live in Sioux Falls, it was the perfect hot tub morning. In fact I almost called in sick to work just so I could stay home in a hot tub, but I just felt so good I've become a morning user. I never used to be a morning user, but I'm a morning user now.
Speaker 2:I'm a night user mainly. I do both. I do both, you do both. Depends on the situation. I'll get into that later when I got some explanations to do about when is the right time to hot tub. So we'll get it. We'll jump into that when it's time but.
Speaker 1:But they're just, they're a wellness machine and everybody should have them and they're now. People are buying them for their wellness, for their stress relief, for their sleep relief, for their sleep for their high blood pressure, for all the things. It's going to get you off of the pills and it's going to get you into living your life and doing what you want to do longer.
Speaker 2:That is correct.
Speaker 1:That is definitely one of the tub time trends right now is it has gone from a box of water in your backyard to A box of water that squirts. Right.
Speaker 2:A big bath. That's a show off thing. And now to a big bowl of medicine.
Speaker 1:So it is a big bowl of medicine, and the hot tub industry and Watkins Wellness has led the charge on that. It's now about the messaging is about wellness, and every manufacturer out there right now is talking about the wellness that you get from your hot tub. But and I'll do a whole nother podcast on that, but just so you know hot tubs are no longer a luxury item. They are 100% a appliance that every person needs. If you don't have a hot tub, get a hot tub. You're going to need it, you're going to love it and that is and another thing we'll jump into tonight they're affordable.
Speaker 2:They are actually really affordable, and we'll jump into what people think they cost and how they're going to explode their utility bills and stuff like that. Don't panic, it's all good.
Speaker 1:Okay, frank just took us a whole nother route. So, as you guys all know, I'm selling the Caldera spas these days and we're going to just jump into the second category. And when it comes to buying a hot tub, you definitely need to buy a hot tub that fits you the most. So what Caldera is famous for is comfort. Performance in style. Their comfort is my number one thing. That is what I love the most about my hot tub is the comfort. Those seats just cradle you in place. It's like sitting in an Adirondack chair, wouldn't you?
Speaker 2:Yeah, so exactly yeah. I think, we jumped on it last week, where the two different types of hot tubs that I've had recently this one I have now completely fits me well. Stands me up, takes care of my feet, neck back.
Speaker 1:So and the comfort is absolutely amazing. And then you also have that foot ridge that holds you down. I'm short. I'm definitely on the shorter side of things, frank is about six foot. I'm 5'3". I float, that's just. I'm female, I've got all the curves in all the right places, which also means I have a little bit of extra buoyancy and I flow and with that foot ridge I can anchor myself down in, I can stay in the seat and I can get the therapy that I'm looking for.
Speaker 1:But comfort, and then performance, the performance of a caldera hot tub. The jets are absolutely outstanding. They do a complete system when it comes to getting you a massage. They completely, completely think about that. They have more R&D money than any other manufacturer that's out there, so they actually think about where each jet hits you and where you're going to be sitting and how you're going to stay in that seat. So when you sit in a Caldera and you sit back and you're like, wow, this is amazing, there's some serious thought and some serious money that has been spent on. Is this seat not only going to work for me, it's going to work for him and it's going to work for everybody else. Kayla is on here and she actually made the comment she goes lounger or no lounger. What are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 2:I'm a big fan of no lounger. That's just me, boy. I can't even count how many hot tubs I've been out to lately and lounge and no lounge. And the guys that love the lounge absolutely are crazy about it. It's the only spot they will sit in. They don't even want to get out of that lounge and they don't want to go to the other seat. It's like okay, I get that Me. I've sat in a lounge before. I'm the guy that's going to jump out and jump into the seat.
Speaker 2:So it's just a preference of how your body is, how it fits you. What part of feature do you want it to take care of on you? So it's one of those things. It's about you.
Speaker 1:Well, it is about you. I'm going to tell you what my experience is in the hundreds and hundreds of hot tubs I've sold is 90% of the people that come in the first time looking for a lounge. We'll sell them a lounge and the majority of my lineup that I sell does have a lounger. Now, most people I would say 70% of the people who buy a hot tub the first time get a hot tub the second time, and I would say 80% of those people that buy a hot tub the second time do not get a lounge. They prefer the four corner seating where they can converse and they can do their thing. Some people feel like it takes up an extra seat and that is one of the things when you're trying to decide what hot tub is perfect for you is how are you going to be using that hot tub? It's just Frank and I in our hot tub.
Speaker 2:That's a great point, because I have a customer out there it's just him and he's a very tall man and he's got one of the smaller hot tubs and he's all about that lounge and he absolutely adores it and loves it and that's the only spot he sits in, so the rest of it doesn't get used. But that's him.
Speaker 1:But get used.
Speaker 2:But that's him, but it's his, that's him, that's his hot tub and that's what he wants, and you definitely want to.
Speaker 1:When you get a hot tub, you want it to be your hot tub and you're going to get it the way that you're going to use it. So when you say lounge or no lounge, it's a question I get every single day. It's definitely a person.
Speaker 2:We get kayla to type back does she have a lounge or no lounge? And first of all do what do you like about your lounge, If you do have one?
Speaker 1:So okay, it'll take her a few minutes. I know the answer to that question but, we'll let her type back, so we it makes it a little more engaging area. And then also on the Calderas, is the style Um, they are just so beautiful. I don't know if you guys follow me on Instagram, but if you do Instagram or Facebook, we just got our fence up. Been waiting a long time for that fence. Shout out to Doug at Solid Fence Company Did a phenomenal job.
Speaker 2:Absolutely.
Speaker 1:Beautiful gray fence and it just ties into my backyard. Now it's totally. It's changed my backyard completely. And then the wind.
Speaker 2:This morning there was no wind, it was so awesome well, out here by the uh on the west side, out here and um of course the you know the jet stream moves in south dakota. It always comes from the west and the winds come from the west and get beat up, and so that fence has been a blessing it has has been a blessing, but it's just beautiful.
Speaker 1:But anyway, if you guys follow me on Instagram, I put up some really cool pictures in my day 26 of the 30 Day Soak Challenge. If you guys aren't following me on that, follow me on that. There's some really cool stuff coming on the 30 Day Soak Challenge.
Speaker 2:Oh, the 30 Day Soak Challenge is our blast. I've done a few of them.
Speaker 1:You don't even know what I'm working on.
Speaker 2:Can't wait to see it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're going to. It's going to blow your mind.
Speaker 2:I know?
Speaker 1:No, it's really going to blow your mind. It's some pretty cool stuff coming.
Speaker 2:Oh, good for you, you're the movie star.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's not about movie stars, it's not about that at all, but it's some cool things that, if you guys are following along, stay tuned. Probably won't talk about it next week, but the week after that I hope to announce what's coming with that, probably the first, the week of Christmas or the first week in January. Yeah, that's what we got going on there and the best things about Calderas is their energy efficiency.
Speaker 2:Oh, let's not forget about their energy efficiency. Caldera spas are designed to retain heat and use energy wisely, and I wrote this down. So I just want to say it right, so you can use your spa without breaking the bank on your utility bills. And that's where I was going into earlier. Everybody I've had at least six between the last six days brand new freshwater IQ startups and the first question is oh my, they're so scared of their utility bills going to go skyrocket and they're actually really nervous about it. And the first thing I say is don't panic, please don't panic. You're not even probably going to notice it. I did some study and I think it's about a dollar a day maybe, and and if that's not good enough, if a dollar a day isn't worth it to you to have that luxury there's a lot things in life that you spend a dollar on worse and that's a dollar a day in january is about what that costs and the reason for that exactly yeah exactly is.
Speaker 1:They have that fiber core insulation, which is that wool base insulation. That's a loose pack but it's completely from the top to the bottom of the hot tub. It's completely filled with insulation. It's amazing because I have a whole blog on that. So check that out. On the hot tub ladyco, just search fiber core. But the cool thing about that and I've had a couple people comment on the channel lately is that they don't want a fully foam insulated hot tub because if it ever leaks it's a very expensive repair to get that leaked. So with this FiberCore insulation it's about 30% more efficient and if you ever do have a leak, you literally just shop, vac it out and repair the leak and then you put the insulation back in. So it's good for the environment, it's good for the hot tub and it is super, super efficient and in, like I said in the month of january, it's probably going to cost you about a dollar a day the only time.
Speaker 2:You'll probably well january, february, depending when that uh arctic blast shows up, because it does every year in south dakota. Arctic blast will come, um, we Blast will come. We used to watch the weather guy in Keloland or wherever it was. I'm sorry, I don't mean to bring any news channels, but I love them all. When they made that announcement Arctic Blast is coming, you just frown, you just go oh yuck, but it happens and it will happen this year again, and that's when you get below zeros and the hot tubs from Caldera have never failed.
Speaker 1:They don't. That brings up a story that I love to tell. Way back in the day, like way back in the day when Alan and I had our first hot tub store, there was a ice storm that had come through and we were selling Calderas at the time and the iStore came through and it knocked out power everywhere. There was power everywhere, and the town I had the hot tub store in was in Norfolk, nebraska, very much an egg community, and we were personally without power, I think 10 days. Everybody was without power and Alan was driving all over the country with his generator winterizing and closing down hot tubs so they wouldn't freeze.
Speaker 1:Not one of them was a Caldera and it was day 13. And he was going 200 miles away to a hot tub that was on a farm and he was on his way out there. The customer called on the way out there and said the power came back on. I had him turn on the hot tub to see where it was. Back on, I had them turn on the hot tub to see where it was and it was at 34 degrees after 13 days of no power at all, and it was zero degrees the entire time. So these hot tubs are super well insulated. Now that's not peeking in it and checking to see what's going on, but it definitely makes a huge difference. Kyle and Kayla are doing a good job here. In the comments Kayla says oh wow, that's too small, I do not have a lounge, I'm too short for a lounge, but I do to curl up in the corner at seats by the filter and, well, lounge that way with one leg up With one leg up.
Speaker 1:So I did know that Kyle and Kayla are actually my kids and they're on the shorter side. They're not both my kids, but Kayla's my daughter-in-law, but she's definitely followed our short idea there. Sorry, kyle, you're on the shorter side. And then Kyle shared the Instagram photo for you guys to all check out. And then Kayla came back and says you mentioned affordable.
Speaker 2:Let me read that because you can't see it. You mentioned being affordable. What cost do I need to consider after the initial purchase before going through with buying a hot tub? You could read that yeah, good point, you can't read anything and you can, okay, guys I just got to show you, I have to show you, I have to print this. I have glasses on.
Speaker 1:I have to print this big so he can read it, and he can read that tiny little screen on there. So I think that's.
Speaker 2:I cannot read newspapers. I'm 60 years old and, yeah, everything's got to be blown up for me.
Speaker 1:But that's all good, so it is all good, because my eyesight is getting up there as well. So the that you need to be thinking about when buying a hot tub, other than the cost of the hot tub, is you need a solid surface to put it on. So, whether that's a deck, a concrete pad, that is what we prefer. So preferably you're putting it on a concrete slab. If you haven't poured one yet, we would like it to be six inches, a six inch deep floating slab. It doesn't have to be reinforced or have footings or anything like that. If you already have concrete there, it's fine. You don't need to rip it out. You need pavers. I've put them on gravel. I've put them on railroad ties, the free flow spas, which are absolutely awesome. You can just put those directly out on the yard. You can put those on grass. They're a great option for a plug and play. So there's definitely that. So you need the solid surface to put on. You're going to need the power to hook it up to. If it's a 110 hot tub most of them these days are 110 hot tub. They're just a regular 110, 15 amp plug in. That's going to be the, again, the free flows. That's a plug and play option. They're totally awesome. So you don't need to do anything there. Just don't run them on an electrical cord. You do need an outlet closer there. If it is a 220 hot tub.
Speaker 1:You do need to check out which hot tub you're getting. Some of them are single 50 amp breakers and some of them are a 20, 30 amp breaker. Again, caldera spas those GFCI boxes are included with the purchase of your hot tub. So that's a huge expense that you don't have to pay for out front of your hot tub. So you have that Plumbing. Don't need it. There is zero plumbing that you need. So that is absolutely amazing. So I need a solid surface and I need power to hook it up. You can give me those two things. I can get you a hot tub.
Speaker 1:Now I know the next question you're all thinking that is what does a hot tub actually cost? And that's a great question. And just to give you an idea, we have our entry-level hot tubs. Those are going to be your plug and plays, typically a 110, one pump system. Those are anywhere from about $5,000 to about $8,000 these days. So that's where you're starting at. I guess we do have the pre-owned or the used hot tubs. That's a good way to go. If you guys are just looking to get in the market, check Facebook Marketplace, check your local dealer. There's lots of used hot tubs on the market today. I would say on average, to get something that is running and doing well, don't ever buy a used hot tub unless you're buying it from a dealer that's willing to stand behind it and unless you see it running, hot and full of water. If you don't see those three things, do not buy a used hot tub. Again, if you're buying it from a dealer, they're usually going to stand behind it.
Speaker 2:Great point.
Speaker 1:Sorry, I got a lot to talk about here.
Speaker 2:No, you're good Okay.
Speaker 1:So used hot tubs. You're going to usually find those anywhere from $5,000 to about $12,000. Every day I post used hot tubs on Facebook, every single day and every single question every single time is it salt? No, I very rarely get a saltwater hot tub to sell on the pre-owned market. People just love them, they keep them and if I do get them, there's a waiting list. So you're not going to see a saltwater hot tub on my pre-owned site. Once in a while one out of 100 might be a saltwater hot tub, but it's pretty rare. So if you find a saltwater hot tub in that $10,000 to $12,000 market, buy it, buy it now. So then your next line is going to be the value line. That's going to be the Vakonza series. Those are typically a 220 hot tub. The most common size is going to be like a seven by seven, six or seven person. That is going to run you probably anywhere from the ranges of, let's say we're going to be the 110 units, going to start at around 9,000. You can go all the way up to 15,000 on the big seven-person unit.
Speaker 1:The next series up is our Paradise series, also known as the Paradise series. We're just going to call it that that is a saltwater series. Then you're getting into really good warranties a 10-year warranty on the shell, five years against leaks, five years on everything else, always going to have a 24-hour circulation pump, going to have your salt system, typically going to have that freshwater IQ, which is amazing and actually tests the water for you. That's what Frank is an absolute expert at. Those are going to be anywhere from about $15,000 to about $25,000. And then, of course, the luxury line which is our Utopia series.
Speaker 1:That's what we have in our backyard is the Niagara, but that series they're going to start around that $15,000. They're going to go all the way up to $25,000. Again, the warranty on those is going to be 10 years on the shelf, 5 years against leaks, 5 years on everything else Again going to have the saltwater system come standard with the freshwater IQ and always going to have that 24-hour circulation pump. And all those hot tubs have that fiber core insulation which is a must-have. You definitely want to go down that road and you want to have the freshwater IQ and the fiber core and the comfort and the performance and the design and the style. And do you want to talk?
Speaker 2:You want to join me on this podcast. She told me to be quiet, so I'm being quiet. You had a lot to go over there and good point, jackie, you did real well on that. And getting back to where the Frank's tips, we went we're not there yet. Oh, we're not there yet.
Speaker 1:Okay, I have a plan. As we're talking about hot tubs, we're going to talk about the Canabrea. That is going to be the featured hot tub this week, and the Canabrea is the granddaddy of all hot tubs. It is absolutely amazing. This hot tub is 9 foot by 7'7 by 38 inches deep. What I love about this hot tub is it's got three jet pumps Not two, but three and a 24-hour circulation pump, two waterfalls and it seats eight.
Speaker 1:Now, the cool thing we've been talking about lounges. The cool thing about this hot tub if you get the lounge on this one, you can have the lounge and it's not taking up an extra seat. This hot tub is such a large size hot tub that it's that that lounge is like a like extra. And it's got 12 different settings on that hot tub where it goes up one side and back down the other side. It's like sitting in a massage chair. It is I haven't even shown you that yet. It is one of the coolest thing. And it's on its own separate jet pump and it's got its own separate control. So it's right there on the corner of the hot tub, right next to the loungers, like super convenient, and then you have the niagara beside it, so you let it's all in one.
Speaker 2:So yeah, it is one of our best sellers. Great hot tub, but the only thing I don't like about it is when I have to go fresh stardom it's an hour longer it's not that much, no, it's the most beautiful hot tub there is did you realize it's only about 50 more gallons but it still takes that much longer.
Speaker 2:There's just a lot more into them and they're actually a blast. It's a great hot tub. They're actually wonderful and they're a blast to hook up and get going. There there's a it's saying, okay, this is really it yes, so the canabrea.
Speaker 1:if you're looking to have the number one best hot tub, the Canabrea is the one to get, just so. You guys are aware of that. So now, my dear friend, we can do Frank's fix-it tips.
Speaker 2:My fix-it tips. Oh, good Lord. We got into talking about purchasing a hot tub and where to buy, where to look and all them good things, but the first thing you want to do is, when you do find the dealer and the right person you want to buy from, what you want to do is have them come and inspect your area first. Perfect example I had a guy today. He's got a tennis court, beautiful home, really a lot of landscaping back there. Wow, I had to walk back there to get him started on the hot tub today and he was very impressed how we got that hot tub back there.
Speaker 2:Yes, we can tip a hot tub up on a side, squeeze it through some certain places, but you have to measure for sure and so, like Jackie was mentioning earlier, make sure there's access power to somewhere close where they can get that hooked up. You want to be that's your own personal preference but privacy you want to have that hot tub somewhere where not everybody in the world is looking at you and your own luxury spot, somewhere where you can get to a door easy. Simply, you don't want it 50 yards away from your house and out in the field.
Speaker 2:Who wants to jump out when it's 14 below out to your hot tub, that there's one sidewalk out there 50 feet? Just got to be looking at all them options. When you go to purchase a hot tub and look at your backyard, where can it fit? 90% of the time we can put them anywhere, but there's a few things that you have to look into before that and you might want to have a rep or somebody come out and look at work and do some measuring before you do that.
Speaker 1:Those are all really good tips. A couple of things to think about. Code requires that the GFCI box, or your power, has to be five feet away from the water and it can't be further than 50 feet from the hot tub and it has to be in plain sight. Keep that in mind. You do want to have enough room around the hot tub, if at all possible, that you can walk around the hot tub. One you got to have a cover lifter. If you're going to buy a hot tub, you a hundred percent have to have a cover lifter. You're going to use your hot tub 90% more if you have that.
Speaker 1:My favorite hot tub, my favorite cover lifter, is a Pro-Lift 2. That tub or that lifter takes two feet of clearance behind the hot tub. You can also do the Pro-Lift 4. That one's awesome. It only takes six inches and it goes straight up. So our last hot tub had the Pro-Lift 4. We now have the Pro-Lift 2. So you have that.
Speaker 1:And then you need two feet for your steps. So you need to think about access to get in and out of the hot tub. So you want to have two feet to get in there. Most people put their steps in front of the control panel, and the control panel is where all the access to all the equipment is, and we need to be able to get into that equipment so so we need about two feet in front of that, so steps are easily movable. So that's something to think about there.
Speaker 1:Now, something that most people don't think about and even sales reps don't always talk about, this is when you're looking at your hot tub in the layout, look where the filter is. This is a really big deal. If that filter is not easily accessible, you're actually going to have to be in the hot tub and actually be in the hot tub to pull the filter out, to change it and redo that. Or look at where the sensor is on the salt system or your salt cell, where those are. Those are all two really big things. If you can't access them from outside the hot tub, you have to do it in the hot tub when you're nice and warm, which is okay. You can definitely do that. That's something to think about. But those are things. If you have two feet all the way around the hot tub, think about that. That's the ultimate case scenario. Not everybody has that and I get that, but those've you've I've walked up on a few of this.
Speaker 2:I have two right now that it is the only guy that can fit in between the crack in the wall. The hot tub in the wall is that little crack that, uh, to get to that freshwater queue is me right, frank's skinny tall guy is what frank?
Speaker 1:is um yes and but think about those are really important things when it comes to planning your space. You can definitely do that Now. I will put in the links. I don't have it right now, but in the links down below there will be a place that you can go. Actually, I'm going to go back there. Let's go to my website. We're going to go talk for a minute here, frank.
Speaker 2:Oh, jackie's doing that, like she mentioned before when I was talking about all the spots. Go over that again. That what we do. You do want that area. I've had a couple of job sites that I've been on where I've had to move a hot tub two feet because you can't get a cover lifter on it and you do want to be able to access to your filter and all them salt cartridge, salt sensor sensor and your screen. You want to be able to get to all them uh items so you can look at them. I know some people want to squeeze them in tight areas and just be careful on that so I'll put this link down below.
Speaker 1:but where I went is the vision ar app on caldera Spas. There's a QR code. If you guys can see that on your screen right now, you can just actually take a picture with your camera, go to that QR code and then you can take that to your backyard. It's a virtual app where you can actually pick out your hot tub and place it in your backyard and it is one of the coolest things. I mean you can actually like be standing in the hot tub and looking out.
Speaker 2:It's super good, it's pretty cool and it's.
Speaker 1:Anytime I do a site inspection, I pull this out so people can actually check this out. But you can do it in your own backyard. You just scan that QR code, download that app and you can actually figure out exactly where you want the hot tub, where you think it's, where you're going to place it, and just think about all those things that we just talked about, because that does play a huge factor in that. All right, we're going to go over that here. So we're kind of over Frank's fix it tips.
Speaker 2:We're over Frank's fix it tips.
Speaker 1:But yeah, that's what we got going on there. And thank you, kyle, he just put the link in the computer.
Speaker 2:these guys are good oh yeah, for a family of five. What size of hot tub should I buy?
Speaker 1:the canabria like that, or if your family too? The canabria is a good one as well niagara mccain.
Speaker 2:Out there all wonderful hot tubs. Seychelles is a great hot tub because I can't even go through them all right now.
Speaker 1:There's not a bad one there's not but, kayla, to answer that question, the best thing for you to do is bring the family in and actually sit in them. That's your best way to figure that out and then also figure out how you're actually going to use the hot tub. How old are the kids? Are the kids going to be in the hot tub with you? If they're on the smaller side, yes, you can get a smaller hot tub.
Speaker 1:What I would tell you is you don't think it's a big deal, but the five inches from a seven foot hot tub to a seven foot five hot tub. There's a huge difference there, and where you're going to find that space is in the footwell, and if you've got six adults trying to get into a six person hot tub, all those feet are on top of each other. So if you're in a seven foot hot tub, you're very tight and knees are bumping, and that's what's happening. If you get up to a seven foot five by seven foot five and you try to put six adults in there, there's just a little more room and people aren't bumping into each other. So that does make a huge difference there. Hopefully that answered that question. We are moving on. We did Frank's fix-It tip.
Speaker 2:If you have six adults in a hot tub, never mind, we've had, yeah, we've had it at Watertown. You're having fun and you're probably drinking.
Speaker 1:We've had six in here. Your kids come over.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I said adults.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, yeah, they wouldn't.
Speaker 2:Never mind.
Speaker 1:Our hot tub is much more a social hot tub than you would like to think that it is. We do have a lot of guests in our hot tub. People love our hot tub, and isn't it crazy, though, all the people we've had over since we moved?
Speaker 2:to T Over the years. Yeah, how many people have fell in love with the hot tub.
Speaker 1:Just think, since we moved to T and everybody that sat in the hot tub. Yeah, my whole family's been here tea and everybody that sat in the hot tub yeah, my whole family's been here, Yep.
Speaker 2:But what have they said about this hot tub? Loved it. Yeah, this has been the nicest one they've sat in. Even my brother from Florida has a built-in hot tub, of course, in the pool and he's got a really nice luxury place. And he comes in this hot tub and he's ah, he totally loves it. Of course he's in South Dakota with the cold weather. He's a great guy. I just love him. When he comes here, I have to laugh because he's the one that'll stand out there at 10 below and just sit there and breathe it in and go. I won't get to feel this for another year. And who does that here? No one. We don't want to do that. We don't go out to enjoy that cold air. He goes out there to enjoy that cold.
Speaker 2:I like to sit in the hot tub when it's when it's cold I'm not talking about he's in the hot tub, he's just standing outside oh yeah, I know, but he's, he's going to florida and it's super, super hot he's got to get all the cold air in as long as he can before he goes back, so it's just funny sergio just jumped on.
Speaker 1:Let's say hey yo and good to have you back greetings guys, we must, greetings guys, we must be continuing to learn 100%. And Kayla says can you read that?
Speaker 2:I want a hot tub for a massage. All of the jets positioned the same in all of the hot tubs.
Speaker 1:Not at all. 100%. That's a great question. Thanks for bringing that up, especially on the Caldera line that's. That's actually called a hundred percent hot tub circuit therapy. So it looks like all the seats are going to hit you at the same spot, but every seat again we're going back to the R and D development that we talked about earlier. Every seat in that hot tub, as you move around and anchor your feet down, it's going to hit you in a different spot, and the whole idea is you're going to do like musical chairs in the hot tub. You're going to sit in this seat for a little bit and then get up and move and go to the next seat. This morning I was in the hot tub. No, that was last night. I was in the hot.
Speaker 2:Just rotate your side.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was Monday pick a spot.
Speaker 2:Tuesday pick a different spot.
Speaker 1:But definitely that's a great question and that's going to just lead us into the listener Q&A. So if you guys have any questions, now's a great time to ask this one. This one came in this week from Jessica and she says what's the most important feature to look at in a hot tub. That is an absolutely great question you want to tell us oh, efficiency for sure.
Speaker 2:Oh boy, what's the most important? What was the question?
Speaker 1:I'm sorry, what's the most important feature for a hot tub when you to look for when buying a hot tub?
Speaker 2:oh, the energy efficiency and the comfort for yourself. Not everybody's built the same, not everybody's bodies are the same. So it's coming in to look at one and, and I suggest you, when they're sitting there empty, go and sit in them. Absolutely. You have a lot more to put into that.
Speaker 1:Oh, a hundred percent. But I do think everybody should try on their hot tub before they buy it. That's a new line I've picked up recently is we always used to call it a test soak. Now I think it's a try on. I think you need to actually get in that hot tub and try it on. It's important that the hot tub fits you perfectly. And of all the things and you've been with me a long time now and we've had a few different hot tubs what do you love the most about this hot tub?
Speaker 2:The seating, the comfort, and another. Before I throw this out, I'll get myself in trouble, but who's going to stand behind you? Also, make sure you have someone that's going to take care of you after you purchase a hot tub and just not say bye, good luck.
Speaker 1:And that's why you don't want to buy a hot tub online. You want to buy it from a dealer, and that is probably even more important than how comfortable the hot tub is the relationship that you have with your dealer. And I'm not always going to tell you that if you buy my consulting class or you do something like that, I'm not always going to tell you to buy the Caldera. I'm going to tell you to buy it from the dealer that you trust the most, the dealer that you feel like you're going to have a relationship with, because you now have a relationship with these people, and that's a blessing to have. If you have a good dealer, if you have somebody that you know is going to be there and follow up with you after the sale, then you're doing good. That's probably the number one thing to pick out. The next thing would be how comfortable it is and how it seats you.
Speaker 1:If the jets don't hit you in the right spot and you're not comfortable in the hot tub as much as I hate to say that there are times that I get somebody that I just don't have a hot tub that fits them and they tried it on, it didn't work and I have to let them move on, because the most expensive hot tub that you're going to buy is the one you don't use. So a lot of people will price shop me and be like, oh, this one's $2,000 less, or this one's here. Yeah, sometimes it is, but if it's not hitting you in the right spot and you're not comfortable and you're not comfortable with the dealer, yes, can you buy it for less money? You can, but if you're not going to use it, what good is that $2,000?
Speaker 2:The reason I say that? Because just as long as I've been in with you guys in the field, I haven't met a customer that has complained that we haven't stood behind them. They totally have 100% satisfactory of how we've taken care of them and that's a big plus. And that's the only jobs I go out onto is the ones, of course, that we have sold.
Speaker 1:We're not perfect and there are things that get messed up from time to time, but we're going to do everything in our power to make it right and that's what we're going to do. And we have employees and things happen and freight gets damaged and hot tubs are heavy when they deliver them they're a thousand pounds and sometimes things get scratched and that type of thing and we're going to fix it. That's, that is the comfort you need to have with your dealer. Check the Google reviews, check it all out, because it is important. These are $25,000 pieces, these are $25,000 appliances and you want to know that you have somebody has your back when you're done with it or when you're ready to head.
Speaker 2:Exactly. Okay, kyle's got. I got to read a few more questions too you have to answer. So a heater make sure the tub has a heater. I don't know what Kyle means by that. I know what.
Speaker 1:Kyle needs means by that. So we live in South Dakota.
Speaker 2:South Dakota is a crazy place.
Speaker 1:There are hot tubs out there and especially as you guys are out shopping online because that's becoming more and more prevalent make sure your hot tub has a heater. There's a lot of hot tubs that do not have heaters. They work on what they call hot tub friction. Where the water goes through the jets, and that's what is actually heating the hot tub is. When it's the water's coming through the pump, the the force of that going through there cause a friction, and that actually is how they heat the hot tub. It's crazy. It may work in some of the warmer climates.
Speaker 2:It does not work in South Dakota. It does not work in.
Speaker 1:Minnesota. It does not work in Nebraska. Even you got to be further South than that. It's even further South than Kansas, but they're out there. So do make sure your hot tub has a heater.
Speaker 2:Okay, great answer. Next question is why do some hot tubs have a 50-amp breaker and some have a 20 to 30? What's the difference?
Speaker 1:So the difference on that is a 50-amp breaker does not have a 24-hour circulation pump. That's probably the easiest way for me to describe it Now. With that also being said, there are other brands out there that are 50 amp breakers that do have a 24 hour circulation pump. So Caldera hot tubs have a 20 and a 30 breaker and that is what the reason they do. That is, the heaters on one breaker and the pumps are on another breaker. That is a freeze guard protection.
Speaker 1:So if you have a hot tub breaker that is tripping or not working which it can and does happen I just had that conversation with somebody today If that breaker continues to trip and your heater's not working, you can still keep the water moving and you can still get moving. Water won't freeze. So as long as those jets are still running, you can keep that going. Or vice versa, if the pumps stop work, stop working, you still have a heater going and then the water is still moving that way. So that is why some have a single 50 amp and why some have a 20 30 amp all right, I think we're out of questions I think we are out of questions that moves us on to the I think giveaway, correct.
Speaker 2:Oh yes.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So before we wrap up, we're going to do our weekly giveaway.
Speaker 2:What are you giving away?
Speaker 1:Let's talk about last week's giveaway. Last week we are giving. Last week we gave away a logbook. Is the winner on that?
