Speaker 1:

Hey, hey, hot Tubbers, Welcome to the podcast Tub Talk with the Hot Tub Lady. I am your host, jackie Johnson, and today we are going to be talking about wellness and hot tubs and saunas and cold plunges and all the things that are going to make you well in this world, because there's it is such a top of mind subject right now and there's just been some really exciting things happen in the hot tub world and I'm super excited to be a part of. You know, hot tubs have become a wellness machine. They are something that will make you live a better life. August is wellness month. That is one of the reasons that I'm doing this podcast. Today is August is national wellness. August is national wellness month, and what does that mean? That means that it is time to just take a look at your wellness. How can you improve your overall well being, have a better quality of life, just enjoy things a bit. A hot tub is definitely a part of that, and there's other things that make that really exciting as well.

Speaker 1:

Really, really big news came across this yesterday, I think it, yeah, the 31st there was a big press release and Watkins wellness has bought sauna 360. So Watkins wellness, the the owners or the makers of hot spring spas, caldera spas, free flow spas, fantasy spas, all those phenomenal hot tubs that bring you wellness all the time. They have now bought sauna 360. Well, sauna 360 is finlayo, it's Hilo, it's Tilo, it's all the, the residential saunas that are. They definitely are the major player in the sauna market. So Watkins wellness has now purchased them. So they are going to push that, even the what, that whole wellness message is even going to go further out there and it just makes total sense to have the, the saunas made by the same manufacturer that makes the hot tubs. And I'm super excited for all of this because we're going to help you be better, help you be a better person, help you enjoy your health a bit more and the things that go on with that. And then, to go with that as well, the cold plunges are just absolutely exploding. I know that's something that my stores are going to be selling here pretty quick and we're we're pretty excited about that as well, and the benefits of a cold plunge. They just, it all just goes hand in hand and hand in hand and if you do all three, it's just. It's one of those things that is just going to definitely make your life better. You know we're just going to start with.

Speaker 1:

What are the health benefits of a hot tub. So you guys have heard me talk about all this a bazillion times. Hot tubs are good for you. They are not just a party machine, they are a giant bowl of medicine in your backyard. I have just recently recovered from knee surgery. Could not have done it without my hot tub.

Speaker 1:

Hot tubs do so many things. I mean some of the some of the benefits of a hot tub is it can raise your heart rate, so it helps you get better feelings from your from your heart. It gets gets your blood moving. The more your blood gets moving, the more oxygen gets to your cells. It just it's all the things that make you make you function better. If your heart rate is up, that'll definitely help with that. It can help you burn calories. Did you know a hot tub can help you burn calories? One of the one of the stats that I was looking up when I was looking up all the things that you needed for to you know what makes a hot tub health benefits? This was a new stat that I haven't seen yet. But if you weigh 150 pounds and you sit in a hot tub for 15 to 20 minutes, you're going to burn 17 calories or you're going to burn 0.005 pounds of fat. So that's pretty exciting, I mean, because there that is one of the best exercises that I I actually enjoy and I find it very, very relaxing. Now it would take you 125 days, twice a day, to lose a pound of fat, but what better way to try to do that? Hot tubs help you with those health calories or help you burn those calories. That's a big thing, and they're just all the stuff that it can can help you with. It can increase your blood flow Again. That's what that heart rate going up that helps with that. It can lower your blood pressure. It can it increases your endorphins, it helps you sleep better. There are so many things that a hot tub will do that really really help you just become more well, be well. That's that's what's going on with with all these things coming together and it's it's definitely a big thing Now with the saunas being purchased by Watkins Wellness.

Speaker 1:

I've been selling saunas for years. I bet I've sold saunas for 30 years and I've sold finlayo saunas for 30 years. So I'm really, really excited that Watkins Wellness has bought, bought finlayo that is going. That is such a no brainer that it's it should have happened a long time ago. They're going to promote saunas in a way that mark my words saunas are going to explode in popularity because Watkins knows how to market Not that finlayo didn't, but Watkins can market really, really well and there's going to be some really great things that happen with with the saunas and some of the sauna benefits that that you can definitely check out.

Speaker 1:

There's the studies out there and good good. Rx put a really great blog out there on sauna benefits. So if you get a chance, take a look at that. But that's really really a big deal. But regularly sitting in a sauna, that will actually lower the risk of dementia in all timers. I mean that is like huge. There's studies that prove that if you're sitting in a sauna consistently, it takes the risk down for catching those things. I mean it's absolutely it's. It's beneficial.

Speaker 1:

So you need to start early and you need to. You need to do it often. I do know that it's there. They're talking with people who have had been using saunas for 20 years plus. So the sooner you start, the sooner you're going to feel better about it. But saunas are. They're huge. They improve depression symptoms. So that's and I can definitely say that because you get a huge endorphin push when you, when you sit in a sauna, when you sit in a hot tub as well.

Speaker 1:

But if you do all those things, it definitely helps with that. So it helps with depression. You get better quality of life. I mean, you're just your wellbeing is better when you're constantly sitting in a sauna. So saunas are something that you definitely want to check out, try out. They are so good for you. Your overall relaxation in a sauna, your endorphins, your blood circulation everything's moving more. You're detoxifying all the things that are happening. That is just your overall wellbeing is better when you sit in a sauna. That's one of the things that you need to do. Your stress is reduced all because there's physiological reasons for this. I mean, the more you're sitting in a sauna, the more your body gets used to it and the more your body starts doing these things as your body heats up, your heart rate goes up, your blood pressure goes down. All those things happen in a sauna.

Speaker 1:

And then the newest thing that's out there right now is the cold plunges. That is something that has really gained in popularity and I know a lot of my peers, a lot of people out there, a lot of the hot tub dealers are looking for cold plunges to sell. A couple of the really big ones right now are Leisurecraft. That's a big cold plunge that we're going to see a lot of kind of pay attention to them. And then Superior Wellness is doing a really good job as well. In fact, I'm going to try to get the Superior Wellness people on the blog here pretty soon to actually talk about cold plunges.

Speaker 1:

But if you are using a sauna and a cold plunge, the benefits are just absolutely If you sauna and plunge together, I mean cold plunges. It's the hottest thing out there. Joe Rogan's out there and he's saying he cold plunges every day. I personally I'm I got a gear up for it. I'm going to actually start doing it. I'm going to use bathtub with some ice in it after a sauna. We're going to. We're going to start doing that. That's going to be our goal for the week is we're going to try to do that three times this week and I'll kind of let you guys know how that goes. And then there's cold plunges coming, so I'll be having a cold plunge in my backyard as well. But there's, there's some, really there's some good stuff out there that that's really coming.

Speaker 1:

So just kind of pay attention to the cold plunges and the cold plunges with the hot tub. You put that right next to that. That is just an absolutely awesome combination that is going to help your wellbeing and that's something that you want to do. One of the things that definitely happens in the in the hot cold. So you get in the hot in the sauna, you get in the hot tub and you get warmed up and then you get in the cold. Your sleep is going to improve. So one of the things that happens is to fall asleep. Your body core has to actually cool down. So if you heat up and then you get in a cold plunge after that, it's going to help you sleep better. So the proven scientific studies that if you sauna and cold plunge together, it's going to make a huge difference.

Speaker 1:

Detoxification that's another big one. It again your what happens in a detoxification. If you do a hot, hot and cold, that triggers your lymphatic system and allows your body to it allows your body's waste to flush out of your system. So if you are hot and then you're cold, that gets that lymphatic system. That just wakes it up and it gets it going and it forces all the bad stuff out of your body and you're going to lose that via sweat. You're going to use that via the bathroom. You're going to lose that in a lot of ways, but it's going to force your body to detoxify and as you detoxify you feel better. So if you're hot and cold at the same time, it's definitely a good thing to do Increase metabolism. So again, you know, if those of us that are trying to watch our weight a little bit, that is a really good thing.

Speaker 1:

If you're hot, hot and cold at the same time, so get your body temperature up and then cold, and then really the best way to do that is a couple of times is sauna, cool off, and then back in the sauna and then cool off, and if you keep doing that, that helps increase your metabolism. There's a mind thing that goes on as well, is it? Let your body, let's you train yourself to get in control of your body, and if you do all that together, it's just the benefits are just Unbelievable and just I just do a Google search on it is absolutely Amazing of everything that happens there, the. The next thing is lowers wrist to psychosis again, that a lot of that has to do with the sauna. But that helps Get and this is definitely more in males than females but if the studies have proven that Regularly sitting in a sauna will help get that down and then it'll also help with your when you cool off again, that just helps the body react faster and then your wellness gets better. So there's definitely some things going on there that you definitely want to do.

Speaker 1:

Colds plug, cold plunge benefits Skin and health, anti-aging. So this is one of the things I'm most excited about is it helps stop your the look of getting older, as I'm getting older myself. That's one of the things that is definitely going on there, so that that helps a ton Huge endorphin rush. So if the cold plunge actually just makes your body, you just feel so good. I know it doesn't sound overly exciting to do it, but if you're like in a 50 they say 50 to 60 degree is is a really good cold plunge Area. Some people go even colder. You're seeing a lot of the tiktoks in the in the Instagram's where people are actually getting into ice water. No, I don't think I'm ready to do that yet, but I'm super excited about the benefits that that are coming from that. But you get a huge endorphin rush and that just makes you feel better. It reduces cortisol. So, again, those of us that that's the stress hormone cortisol, those of us that are watching our weight, that helps with that, but it also helps you just stay calmer. So those are, those are some things that you can you can do with that as well helps with inflammation.

Speaker 1:

So, as you guys all know, I had knee surgery this year and it's I'm still struggling with it. It is definitely been some health benefit issues that have slowed me down. I have slowed down incredibly. I Can't quite do the job that I used to do, but I'm super excited to do this. This hot, cold hot tub, then cold, plunge them back in the hot tub. That is going to help with the inflammation. I mean, my feet and ankles just are incredibly swollen and if I just start doing this, this is going to take care of that. Non, without a prescription, and that's anything that can keep me from taking more pills. This is something that I'm really super excited about. So, all of the all these devices help you live a better life.

Speaker 1:

The Lowers your blood pressure. Again, there's another thing out there that helps you lower your blood pressure. I do have pretty high blood pressure and that's something I definitely need to take seriously, but that is something that Using the sauna, using the hot tub, those help with that and Doing both that and the cold plunge that helps with that a ton. And then hot and cold help with joint pain. Again, I'm still struggling with with my knees and stuff, and it does make a difference. Using both makes a huge difference and it takes that pressure off of your knees, off of your elbows, off your shoulders, all of the things that go on. You will feel better if you do hot and cold plunge, and Hot and cold rejuvenate your skin. They actually, again, not only make you look younger, feel younger, look better. It tightens everything up. Your things are going really well. So that's one, a couple of things that's going on.

Speaker 1:

So, guys, I mean that's kind of how the my wellness tips for the day is use your products, get out there, use that hot tub, use it every single day. It will make a difference, it'll. It'll help you hugely. If you have a sauna, I Use it, get it, use it. I don't use mine as much and especially as hot as it's been, but I do have it on today. I'm gonna use it today and I'm gonna cold plunge afterwards and then I'm gonna get back in the sauna and I will let you guys know how that goes. So pay attention on Instagram and make sure that you see how that goes. But it definitely makes a huge, huge, huge difference. So definitely check that out.

Speaker 1:

And then cold plunges get out there. Look around, see what one you should buy. Again, they are coming. You are going to see that in your hot tub and swimming pool stores. They're coming very soon.
