Hey, hey, hot tubers. Welcome to the podcast Tub Talk with the hot tub lady. I am your host Jackie Johnson. And today we are, it's Cyber Monday, and we are gonna have a very special guest and good friend of mine, Mr. Jim Walls. Bring him on here now. And today we are going to talk about iCare whenever I have you on. It's always super tons of people have tons of questions and we get to ask, answer all kinds of questions for everyone. And today is Cyber Monday. And let's just start with that. I'm, I'm, I'm assuming you've got some Cyber Monday deals today. Yes, we actually do. So I've never done anything on Cyber Monday before. Definitely not to this extent. I've done it, you know, a couple of different times with individuals who wanted something. But on the website, which is ideal water care.com, you're gonna see Cyber Monday deals that are pretty darn awesome. So I'm, I'm excited about 'em. And there really are great deals. You just gotta make sure that you click on the right one. Each one of the specials that we have will say Cyber Monday. And even when you open up the website, it'll say, look for Cyber Monday on those packages when you get into your shopping cart. So just make sure you click on the right one. So with the eyecare we give you, there's really, technically there's four different options. So really there's the eye care, which we'll talk about, the eye care for saltwater hot tubs in pools, and then the eye care, the original eye care. So those are kind of the, the two branches I that you have those specials on. So you have a saltwater hot tub eye care with either your choice of a free calibration kit or a free box or kit of the soft skin spa. So the soft skin spa, that deal is the best deal by far because that's $130 that you would normally have to pay for that. That's free with the eyecare. So that's a big deal. What you choose it is a big deal. That's a, that's a huge deal. I might have to just get another one. Just a, so get some free soft scale. So yeah, so for those people that we're looking at eyecare going, man, it's a little bit expensive. Cuz I, I get that comment a lot, it's a lot of money. But everybody that has one goes, it's really worth it. I don't, I don't know why I waited so long to get it. It makes my life so much easier. And so with doing that, it really, by taking the package with the free Soft Skin Spa, it would normally be $130. It's like getting an eyecare for 370 which is, which you're not gonna be, it's a steal. It really is. And then the other the other option is getting a free calibration kit, which that's gonna save you about $50, 50, $58 by the time you have shipping and everything. So everything across the board for Cyber Monday outside of buying a calibration kit by itself, ships for free. So free shipping on everything. Wow. You're a, you're, you're taking the gloves off. You're, you're ready, ready to play this game today. So that's actually for sure. Well, and I've known you for years and I have never seen you actually, Get it, get involved and you know, you usually kind of like, eh, well I don't wanna play the game, but you're playing the game. That's awesome. And it sounds like you're doing doing some really, really good deals. So you definitely playing the game. Yeah. So I do have Jim's link down below in the show notes or those of you listening on the podcast, you can check 'em out on the show notes there as well. But it's Ideal Water Care. And then do they have to go someplace special or if they just go to the shop it, it'll say, look for Cyber Monday, or No. So we made it super easy for people. So as soon as you type in the ideal water care.com, the very first thing that'll pop up is telling you about the Cyber Monday deals and it will say learn more. If you click on the Learn More, you'll go directly to all of those special. It's okay. That's awesome. So it's pretty easy to get to. And then something else you talked about, and I wanna kind of address this a little bit. You, you mentioned saltwater eye cares versus chlorine eye cares. I mean, explain all the differences of all the different ones that are out there right now. Yeah, so there's really two different eye cares. One for specific for saltwater hot tubs and pools, and then one now or so. That's the new version. And then our original version, which is geared more towards chlorine and bromine. The only difference is one sensor. So the device itself is all the same, which I have one here. So when you look at it, the, this sensor right here, you can, I dunno if you can see it, but it's yellow, but the base of it is orange. So the original eye care has the orange sensor, whereas the salt water, so this is the salt water one has the yellow sensor. And the only difference on it is the, the sensor itself is just more suitable for salt, salt water. Now, for anybody who has the original I Oh, you froze. Is my sensor still gonna work with salt water? I froze. You're back. You're back. Keep going. Okay. So the question is, does my original eyecare work with salt water? Yes, it does. And if for some reason at any point in time you go, I want to change that sensor, you can get a salt water sensor. But it's just the, the difference is just the way that it's reading it and then the longevity of that sensor. So again, the original eyecare I had that original one in my hot tub for over three years on that original sensor. Right. And mine's still on the original sensor. I'm, I'm still on the original sensor and it's doing just fine. And I've sold hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and they're doing just fine. So. We find it more for pools. So pool, when you look at a hot tub, most hot tubs are sitting anywhere from about 1500 parts per million to about 2000 parts per million of salt on a pool. It's three to 5,000. So that sensor is really more so for the pool side of the business. Gotcha. But it does work very well on the hot tub side of the business also. Well, fantastic. So that's super exciting. So if you had a chlorine or bromine hot tub and you accidentally ended up with a salt, salt sensor, is that gonna affect anything? Or . Okay. I don't know how you would end up with a salt sensor because we just started shipping these. Okay. And we're very specific on saying that this is for salt water pool or hot tub versus a chlorine bromine one. Mm-hmm.. And the only place you can get it is on the website. Our, our retailers don't even have those products yet. Right. I think you give us one that we have on a shelf. I gave you one It's still on a shelf. So we have it. Yes, we have it, but we do have the sensors if we ever have to switch that out, but but Right. That's okay. So it's pretty much impossible for that to happen. And now is, are they all blue these days? Or, you know, cause there used to be the burgundy ones. Are those still out? There are, those are a good eyecare. What's, tell us more. Yeah, so the, yeah, so they're, they're all blue now. So you're gonna see the blue lid that's you know, perfectly flat, the maroon ones or red ones. Those no longer exist. They just, there, there was some changes we did to the blue ones. One with the board itself. And the way that the resistor would work with the battery. And so the, the red one is discontinued. There's no, no longer any red eye cares out there. Okay. So if I'm, I'm just gonna throw this out here and if you don't wanna answer it, you don't have to. But I, I am getting a couple people saying, Hey, I found something on some crazy website or something, but it's a burgundy one. And I've al I've been telling people not to buy the burgundy ones, but yeah, so the burgundy one would not be an eyecare, it would not be UL listed for the us. So it's not designed for the us it's gotta be something from overseas that somebody brought in or is pretending to have, but they actually don't have. But I would not recommend to do the burgundy one. At all. The boards are different, right? So I think our website still shows a burgundy one, but we haven't had a burgundy one for. Three years. A long time. Yeah, for three years. We just need to up upgrade our website, not just . Easier said than done. So I'm gonna stop in here real quick. Check the notes. Katie says, I love my eyecare and it's so worth the money. And she says, have it had to buy calibration kit but have to share and use and love the soft skin. So Katie has had her eye care for a while and she absolutely loves it. And if you got any questions today, Katie now's, now's the time to answer. But or now's the time to ask cuz we will answer. So one of the things that I wanted to bring up was the last time I had you on the show, and it's something that, that I run into a lot with a lot of cu, a lot of customers, is setting your baseline, especially on the salt tubs. We, we've gotta get that baseline set and, you know, can, do you have any tips or anything that you can tell us as far as getting your baseline set before you start listening to the eyecare? Yes. So there's a couple of things. Now the setup Wizard of iCare does go through and says, how would you like to customize these four settings? Salt levels are one of them. There are some defaults based on historic. Salt systems that are out there. But you always wanna look to your manufacturer of your salt system that says what they recommend for their body of water. So, as an example, a pool is three to 5,000. So on the eye care, the default is going to be three to 5,000. But as you know, many of your hot tubs that you sell with salt water, they have 1,750 parts per million. Mm-hmm.. And so with 1,750 parts per million, people try to figure out, well, how do I actually get there? What is my number? Well, the iCare will tell you exactly salt your baseline first. So to figure out your baseline is to take the, the easiest way to figure out your baseline of your water. Okay. You're, you're, you're cho out a little bit. Yeah. So the easiest, let's start with the easiest way for your to I'm gonna, what are you gonna do? We're, we're gonna get a view of Jim's home. I think he'd, I'm gonna move he's got a different office with, with a little different eye care or a little different wifi. So we're gonna watch him cut, cut through the house here and, and, and kind of go that way. And we'll get some better Better internet connection from there. But but what he's, what he is talking about right now is, is he's going to tell us how to actually set up your baseline for your the baseline for your eye care. And the, the thing, the number one mistake that I see people making with the eye care is they just throw it in there and start listening to it immediately and. You know, they throw it in and it says, do this, this, and this. Or they don't even wait for it to tell 'em to do something. They'll just notice that the arrow is red or the arrow is yellow, and then they, they automatically assume that means they have to add something. And so that's, that's the first thing that happens. And we need to not do that. We need to actually set up your baseline, get everything dialed in, set up your parameters, and then once you do that, then that iCare is gonna work incredibly well. And then I would trust that iCare over anything else. But you do have to get those parameters set up. And looks like you're in a good spot now. So I'm gonna let you tell us how to actually set up the parameters meters. Okay. So your eye care will actually help you set up your baseline. So if you simply take whatever your source water was that you filled up your hot tub with, let's say it was the garden hose, or it was went through a purifier first, or it had a filter on the end of the hose, whatever you ended up using. That initial source water, just simply put it in a Tupperware bowl and then put your eye care in the Tupperware bowl and let it float around and let it get its test. I would tell you to put it in there for at least four hours by putting it in there for four hours, you're gonna get four tests. And so that's going to come up on your TDS slash salt level if you had a salt water hot tub. And when that does, that's going to be your baseline. Okay? And this is before you put salt or anything in it. This is just the water before you put correct. But for those people that have already added salt or they've already put it in their hot tub, all they have to do is put it in their initial source water. So hopefully that's not confusing. But you're gonna get a test on your TDS level and that TDS level could be 53. It could be 106, it could be 215. What that is for your source water that now becomes your baseline. So we'll take the example of 200, which is very common, that people have roughly 200 parts per million in your source water. What you would want to do is go to the hot tub manufacturer salt recommendation. So in this particular, in particular case, I'm using 1,750 from the manufacturer. So in your settings of your eye care, you would take your 1750 plus the 200, which would make your minimum line now on your eye care at 1950. And then on the high end, it's always 3,300. So you're not gonna have 3,300 parts of salt. You're still gonna have 1,750 parts of salt. You're gonna have 200 parts of your baseline in this example. And then over time, as you add products, whether it's soft skin spa, or pH up, or pH down or whatever you happen to use, that will slowly increase your total tds, which TDS is total dissolved solids. In, in part of that is your salt, but your salt doesn't increase over that period of time. It's just your TDS increases over time. But it's important to figure out your baseline, your baseline so that way you know exactly how much salt to go add. As a rule of thumb, you would want to add two cups of salt per hundred gallons, and that's gonna bring you up to roughly 15 or 1600 parts per million. And then you can just top it off with a little bit of extra salt if you need to. And Jackie, I don't know if you find that to be the case, but even with our salt system that we manufacture, that's exactly what we tell our customers. Mm-hmm. To start off with, two cups per hundred gallons. So on a 400 gallon hot tub, it's eight. Yeah. And that's what we tell people. But we do tell, at least on, on the Watkins products, we actually tell 'em to start on the low side because if you overdose then you have to do a partial drain. And that's, we're kind of seeing that with the eye cares a little bit too, is again, people aren't testing that base, they're just throwing it in there and then, then we end up getting that too high. And that all has to do with your, you know, your TT tds when you first get started. So you wanna make sure that you're, you're doing that. So if you have too much, it, at least on our hot tubs, you do have to do a partial drain if there's too much salt in there. However, yeah, two cups is pretty, pretty much on on par. Yeah. And it should be under your 1750. So my hot tub is four 50 gallons. I initially add nine cups. And I typically have to go add a cup or maybe a cup and a half afterwards to get above my 1750. Right. And so it still should fall short even with two cups. Yes. Or a hundred gallons. It, it should just gotta make sure that you, it should, you just gotta make sure that you are you have your gallons correct. I mean, there's all too often that people go, oh, I think it's roughly 350, and they put 350 in there when in reality it was 300. Right. That's gonna change everything. That's a difference of, you know, a half a. That it will make a difference. And you'd be amazed how many times people do not know how many gallons of water they have. Nobody, nobody knows how many they actually have. They just, they assume they have an eight person hot tub. So that means they got a 500 gallon hot tub. There are very few 500 gallon hot tubs out there. But very few. I mean, I think, I think I know of three models actually, but it's really important that, and those are huge hot tubs. Those are ty typically a nine by a, you know, seven, seven hot tub. Mm-hmm.. But, so it is important to actually check that out and make sure that you know how many gallons that your hot tub actually is, cuz it will make a big difference. So okay. So getting that set up. And then the other thing that, that I noticed that people do a lot is they will actually, you know, it's, they're, they're like, it's not telling me what to do. And I know my chlorine's levels low, so I'm just gonna add chlorine. So tell me how that affects things. Yep. So the eye care itself will not give a knee jerk reaction. So it will look at all of the parameters. So as an example it's not telling 'em to dose chlorine or not telling 'em to increase their salt run time, but what it's, the reason why it may not be telling them is because it's looking at the pH. Let's say their pH was 8.0, but it was trending down. By having your pH come change, your sanitizer becomes more effective. So iCare again, it needs to see four consecutive tests in the wrong direction before it's gonna tell you to dose. And when it sees that the pH is coming down, but the sanitizer is level, but you know it's lower than what it should be, as that pH comes down, you're gonna see the sanitizer go up. It's just the function of the efficiency of chlorine or salt water, hot tubs, converting that over to chlorine. So it's, it's something that the eyecare will recognize. So that's one thing that could be happen. Number two is if they don't have their activate notifications on, so there's a button on the eyecare that allows you to either receive notifications without opening up the app, or you have to open up the app to go get those notifications. So to go turn that on, for those people that wanna make sure that they're getting notifications, you would hit the icon that looks like a bow tie. I'll pull, I'll pull it up and the entire screen is going to shrink. I just had this open and then, okay. I care. Okay, so you want us to hit the bow tie in the middle? Yep. So the entire screen's gonna shrink, and then you're gonna see a person in the lower right hand corner. So you're gonna hit the That guy. The person, yeah. And then you're gonna go to applications. Okay. And then you'll see a button on the top that says activate notifications. And Jackie's case it's green, which that is on. A lot of times we find that the customer has that off and then they're not going to be seeing those notifications. So when it's off, it's gonna be gray and when it's on, it's gonna be green. So that would be off. That would be off. And then we'll, so you would've to open up the, yep. So now you would receive notifications, it would come across similar to like a text? Yes. And you would see that in no different than you would a text. Okay. I was looking to see if I had one. Now I follow a lot of hot tubs. I, I have a lot of people that actually. Have me follow their hot tubs. So that's why I leave my notifications on and especially in the morning, that seems to be when I get the most notifications is mm-hmm. You know, hey, check the covers, clean your filters, all all those things. So, right. So on that note, so there's times where I know some of your customers have hot tubs that have circulating pumps, and they get the notification that it says increase filter time. And people go, well, I have a circulating pump. It's, it's filtering all the time. You know, why am I getting those notifications? The reason why you're getting those notifications is because iCare is noticing as it's floating around that there are dead spots, that the water is inconsistent with other parts. And so what it's trying to have you do is to circulate that water, turn that water over so they get, you get a more consistent reading now on, let's say on your pot spring line, when you go to your cleanup cycle. There is a either off or auto. Mm-hmm.. And if you click it on the auto, then it's going to run your cleanup cycle. I believe it's once a day automatically. Yes. And it's every 24 hours at the same time and it runs for 10 minutes. And I'd really recommend everybody have that on whether they have an care or not. I think it's something that, that's a really valuable thing and it helps keep your water clear. But, but yeah. Okay. I didn't realize that that's what you were asking for there. Yep. So in doing that just so you guys know, the default from the manufacturers, that's off. It's not on auto. And then if for some reason you drain and refill your hot tub, or you turn the breakers off or have to reset the breakers, you have to go back in and change that back over to auto again. Yes, it's going to default to the off position.. So it's, it's an important thing to have on. And I, I, I do, anybody I start up, I, I make sure that their auto clean is on, so, mm-hmm.. Okay. Awesome. So, so a couple other things cuz we touched on it briefly, is the target settings that now come up within the wizard. So we talked about the salt and trying to see those parameters. You want to have your, in your case, 1750 plus your baseline, and then the high end is 3,300. At 3,300 is your indicator on a saltwater hot tub that it's time to drain and refill that hot tub? The water has become saturated enough to be able to say it's time to go drain and refill. Otherwise your salt system's gotta struggle so much more to do the same. So it's, that's the reason why you put it at that 3,300. Now some people go, well, can I do it earlier? Yes. Can you do it later? Yes. And I would recommend in cold weather climates that let's say you're at 3000 or maybe 3,100 and it's. November and you go, you know what? I don't want to do this in January or February. You may decide I'm gonna do it now on a good day to be able to drain and refill so I can start fresh and go back down to that 1950. Once you add the salt, right, because you started with the 200 part per per million have total to dissolve solids. Correct. And, and that's a big deal. Now if, now if you're on a chlorine bromine system, those defaults are two 50 on the low end and 2000 is the high end. So at 2000 would be your indicator to drain and refill salt, or sorry, drain and refill a chlorine or bromine system. So the other target values that are in the wizard one is going to be your temperature. So the temperature default on eye care on when you start up a new hot tub is 95 to 1 0 4. Now those are just, it's a default. It's a recommendation. But you, again, you may want to customize that. I still like having the low end of 95, but on the high end, I like bumping that up to like 1 0 6 or 1 0 7. Mm-hmm.. And the only reason why I do is because I don't want to get a nuisance notification. So if the eye care floats by the heater return fitting, that water is dramatically hotter than the body of water. And I don't wanna get a nuisance notification. So I bump it up to, you know, 1 0 6, 1 0 7, and then I won't get a nuisance notification even if I'm trying to maintain that 1 0 4. Right? The next default is going to be your pH, which the default is seven oh to seven six. But in the states we recommend seven two to seven six. So you would want to change that from seven oh to seven two on the low end. And then on your salt, we've. Before, sorry, go ahead. Before you go into that, Katie had a, had a comment and we're gonna, that actually ties in there real well. She says, is it com is it common to have to add pH decreaser? I have a pulse with freshwater salt system and with the mineral cartridge, I use soft skin spa. I noticed that after I use the hot tub almost daily, the pH goes up. Okay. So part of it could be your body pH that's affecting that. Products that you add will also affect the pH, but saltwater hot tubs inherently have a high level of pH to the tune of 8.0 to 8.2 is very common. Whereas on a chlorine hot tub, when you're adding chlorine, chlorine typically has a pH of seven. So for a chlorine hot tub, you're adding less pH. On a bromine system, those typically bromine has a pH. Most of them have anywhere from six to 6.5. So in bromine systems, you're constantly having to increase pH. So it depends on your, your main line sanitizer. That's really determining your pH more than anything. Now, the neat thing with soft skin spa, the day that you add it, you're gonna see your pH go up. But then after about 24 to 36 hours, you're gonna see your pH start to levelize. Now, for some reason, it's still above the, the range that you want it to be. You can add pH down. So Soft Skin Spa, even though it's a great product, it does have a limit. If there was some little kid peeing in the hot tub every day, it's not gonna keep up. The salt water systems, again, are very high in pH so I would actually tell you to lower your pH just ever so slightly and then add your soft skin spa. Your soft skin spa will work much better at a slightly lower pH. It's because of the buffering agents we use and there are limits to buffering agents. There's a range that the pH needs to be for it to actually work. And then Katie, I'd also have the ask the question is, is the eyecare telling you to low lower the pH or you just noticing that it's trending up? Or? I mean, cuz those are, the bi pH does go higher in a saltwater hot tub is just kind of a byproduct of converting that salt into chlorine. It's, it's one of those things that happen. And you are gonna have to add pH, you know, we tell people probably once a month are gonna have to have pH decreaser, but. If it's just the eyecare trading upward, I mean, with that soft skin spa and everything, it's probably coming back down a little bit on its own, but it will. So yeah, so when your pH is at 8.2, it's harder for the buffering agents to work. So that's the reason why I'm saying is lower it just slightly below 8.0 and you'll notice your soft skin spa will work even better. We are working with our chemists to be able to add additional buffering agents to go beyond that in the future, but it's, it's kind of a long process and love to see where that goes. But we're trying to help people and make it as easy as possible rather than make it confusing. All of our products that we manufacture are designed off our principle of what does it take to have great water? The very first thing is you've gotta monitor your water. Whether you decide to go with an eyecare or you decide to use test strips, you've gotta know where your water stands. The second thing is you have to have a great sanitizer, whether that's a salt water system or ideal water salt water system, a chlorine bromine system, an ator or a uvc silver cartridge. You've gotta have good sanitation. The third thing is you've gotta have balance, and that's where Soft skin spa comes in is one of the things that helps with is your pH. And then the fourth thing is what are the, you know, there are certain steps you want to take before you drain the hot tub. So when you refill it, it's the best water that it can be. And that's where our hot tub scrub comes in. Our hot tub scrub is different than everybody else's. That's. We do not use detergents. Detergents. If anybody's familiar with detergents. You use detergents in your sink. As soon as that detergent get collects the dirt, it becomes tacky. And the thing that I hear about a lot of those plumbing line cleaners is that they use it, they see the foam, it looks like it's doing its job. They see all the junk on the top, and when they go to drain it it sticks to the sides. It's because they're using a detergent. We do not use a detergent, we use a surfactant. So a surfactant is still going to foam up. It is going to be a different type of foam. So it's still gonna get all the biofilm out of there. But the second ingredient we use is a high level of hydrogen peroxide. So hydrogen peroxide is actually going to take care of the problem that causes the biofilm in the first place, whereas a detergent by itself is not gonna do that. So a detergent gets rid of the biofilm. A surfactant gets rid of the biofilm, but the biofilm is actually created by fungi and bacteria. And so the hydrogen peroxide turns around and gets that stuff off the wall, so it's less likely to come back again. You've gotta take care of the problem. A detergent, all those plumbing line cleaners don't take care of the problem and they're terrible to clean up afterwards. They are horrible. That stuff's to the side and it's like glue. It's, it's, it's rough. It's, it's, it's definitely definitely tough to do that. So so that's actually one of our other cyber deals is with the soft skin spa. If you order the soft skin spa, you're gonna get a free hot tub scrub. Really? Yeah. You've got all kinds of deals, . I know. So you get free soft skins. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. So guys, if buy this, this for sure is a product that you have to have It just, and what I love is that you can clean the filters with it too. And it, in my opinion, it's the best filter cleaner that's out there. I wish you could figure out how to clean filters regularly with it versus just, just the when you're doing the tub scrub. But it's, it works really good. It is a really good filter cleaner. Yeah. So just so everybody understands, what Jack is referring to is the hot tub scrub only works on cleaning the filters when you're draining your hot tub. So the way that you would work it is you would take your filter or filters out, you'd hose 'em off to get the majority of the debris out, and then you're gonna put 'em into the main body of water. Then you're gonna add your hot tub scrub, and you're using your hot tub, like a big washing machine. And that agitation is what cleans the filter. And again, what Jack is referring is if you were to take that cleaner and put it in a five gallon bucket, It's not gonna work. Right. It's not designed to work that way. A surfactant, hy peroxide just don't function that way. So maybe someday we'll figure it out, but as of right now, it needs machine. It needs be agitated. Yeah. Make a little washing machine.. Yeah. Filter washing machine. You'd probably, you know, you're always looking for the thing to make the million. That could be it. Yep. Just, just saying. Yep.. Yep. But okay, so that's that's all good. Now, if you guys don't have the eyecare you can get the log books to keep track of what's going on. Jim was talking there earlier about keeping track of everything and that's one of the beauties of the eye care is when people bring in their eye care to me. I can, I can go look at their history cuz a lot of people bring it in and say, look what it did today. And then I'll zoom it out and I'll, I'll look at a month and I'll be like, well, you're fine. This is, you know, it, it, it went by something and didn't like it. But so that's a really good thing. But if you don't have an eyecare the, the log books are great. They keep track of all that. And if you wanna bring those into your dealer and say, Hey, this is where this was, this was, this was, that'll help immensely When it comes to diagnos diagnosing your problems my personal opinion is, is as much as I think my books are the greatest thing in the world, I highly would recommend the eye care over, over the old school, writing it all down, I, it's just easier and it actually gets done. I mean, that's, that's the reality of it, is, you know, we can have all the, all the books and all the papers and all the apps and all that, but the iCare actually tests it every hour on the hour and it actually gets done. And cuz we all, we all all have good intentions of making sure everything gets done, but when it's just one more thing that we have to do, we don't do it. Where if you throw the eye care in there and the only thing you have to do with that is charge it, then it makes it pretty darn easy. So it's, it's definitely the way to go. Right? So the, that brings up the point of how to charge your eye care. So the app will tell you when to recharge. There's a notification that will come up once the battery is at 20% or below, but some people don't see it or some people don't read it. They click right through it and they go, I'll, I'll do it later.. But in that prompt, it will tell you exactly how to do it. So just so everybody knows how to do it you're gonna wanna take your eye care out, you're gonna want to dry it off if you're gonna want to top or pop both lids off the top. So you have a white or the blue top and then you have a white inner ring. You want to take both of those off and let it breathe for at least 12 hours. And what we're trying to do is to be able to get any moisture that potentially could be in that battery port outta the battery port. And then after 12 hours, then you want to go ahead and plug it in and charge it for at least eight hours. After eight hours you can unplug it, put everything back together and put it back into the body of water. But it is important that you do that. And we've had people that didn't follow the rules and you know, or didn't see it or whatever, and they call up and or, and they ask, well, I, my battery isn't working correctly. What do I do? They simply need to submit a claim. Our customer service goes and looks at it remotely. We determined what's, what's wrong with it, and if it's within the two year warranty. We've been replacing every one of those batteries. And the way that we replace them is we have what's called a smart core. The smart core is everything that's white, which would be a new battery and a new board. And then they, we would ship it to them. They would put their sensors in, put their caps back on, and they'd be back up and running. And your warranty has been, I, I've, you guys have been great. I mean, you're, you honestly great. Are you, I haven't seen you turn to anybody down yet, so we haven't, and it's, but you can go in and you can look and you can see what's wrong, which that's kind of a, kind of a cool feature of that. Is that because you guys can kind of remotely log into somebody's. App or iCare and be like, okay, yeah, this is exactly what, what we got going on. You know, if a sensor's bad, you know, if, if the battery's not working correctly and your warranty has just been absolutely outstanding. And just so everybody knows, Jim, here is the warranty for here in the us. Jim handles all warranty calls in the US So we talked about that earlier. If you had a yes. So if they have, if they have an issue and they think it's, you know, the battery or a sensor or whatever, they can send us an email at info at Ideal Water Care. Let us know what they believe is wrong with it. We're gonna send them back a link that's gonna go directly to our customer service. They're gonna have to fill out a form that's online. It's super easy. Basically it's saying who they are. It's gonna ask for what's called their U U I D. And their U U I D is on the inside of the box. When they initially scanned that QR code, that UU ID is right below that, but not everybody keeps their boxes. So it's also in the app. The way you find it in the app is you would hit the icon that looks like a bow tie. I'm getting there. I have to go all the way back out. That's the Okay, so you go to the bow tie. Bow tie. Yep. And then the gear on the top. And then to my eye care. Now click the, the gear one more time and then my eye care is on the bottom of the list. And you will see your serial number and your U U I.. So that U U I D is what you want to enter into that claim form. And then our customer service department will go in, look at it remotely. They'll, they'll send you a ticket number, which is the way that we track everything, and they'll respond within 48 hours. And they'll give you the next step saying, you know, they're analyzing or maybe they might have some questions for you. Just simply ask, answer the questions. And then they'll say that your replacement part will ship in the next seven days. And so we ship out anything that needs to be replaced once a week typically either on Fridays or Mondays. And it's super simple to, to, to switch these pieces out. I mean, it's, there's no challenge to it at all. Yep. It's, it's very, very, very easy. I can do it. So thank. Yeah so the other thing is I wanna make sure people understand the, the value of Soft Skin spa, if that's okay. Mm-hmm. and what it does. So, soft Skin Spa, again, makes it easy. It, it's integrated with eyecare. So eyecare as long as you tell eyecare that you're using Soft skin Spa will tell you when to dose and how much to dose. But the function of soft skin Spa is to, it's designed to make the water feel soft including your skin and your hair, if your hair gets in the water. The second thing it does is it gives a layer of protection to the hot tub, the equipment and your body from the harshness of chemicals, similar to how Rex works on a windshield including, including your salt cell. So it literally makes your salt cell last longer for two reasons. One, because of the protection. Number two, because of the third thing it does is it helps you levelize your pH when you have high pH. Your salt generator has to overcompensate because of the effectiveness is reduced at a higher pH level. So by keeping that pH down, it'll make that cell to where you don't have to run it as long. And salt cells, regardless of the manufacturer, are 100% deter determined by the run time. So the longer the run time, the shorter the life you have of that salt cell. I don't care whether it's on a pool or a hot tub. It's all based on run time equals the life. And then our current version of soft skin spa also has silver in there. It does have silver nitrate. So silver nitrate allows you to have a low, lower level of sanitizer, including your salt to chlorine conversion or bromine or chlorine. It also, it also does not have any phosphates. I know that's big. You know, you talk about phosphate a lot and how those are affecting the water.. And then it also has a maintenance dose of phosphate remover. So it's not, if you have a problem, it's gonna take care of it, but it helps you maintain a low level of phosphates, right? It's not gonna remove, so you gotta keep it at 300 part per billion or lower. And if you're at a 3000, it's not gonna be the product that removes all that. But if you get it to that 300 part per billion, it'll help you keep it there. That's correct. Yep. Exactly. So, which is, if you think of all the stuff that it replaces, soft skin spa is such a no-brainer. And you know it when you have it in your, in your hot tub, and when it's not there any longer, you know it, I mean, it's you, you know, when you've used it all up, you feel it. I mean, you can, it you, you're like, yeah, better, better dose that. So, and the thing I like and, and I really am noticing it from my customers that are using it, they're salt cells are lasting longer.. Mm-hmm.. They are, they are, they're just lasting longer. And that's, that's an investment that's worth it. And Yeah. And it just, the water feels better. You don't have to think about it as much that pH nity stay in line all the things, so. Right. I, I really do think it's a great product actually. All your products are great. So just, they're just, they're simple. I mean, I've been doing this for a little over 35 years and it's, you know, there's it, there's no reason why this has to be difficult, but yet there's so many manufacturers that try to make this difficult when it doesn't need to be difficult. When you look at, you know, the number two, I keep saying this, the number two reason why somebody doesn't buy a body of water is their fear of how am I gonna go take care of it? Mm-hmm.. And it's the number one reason they get rid of their body of water because they weren't able to take care of it, and because it couldn't take care of it, the water turned. Because a water turn, they no longer use it. And because they no longer use it, they go, why do we have this thing? Let's just get rid of it. And iCare in any one of our products simplifies everything you do. Make it easier. It, it definitely can make it easier. I literally have our salt system on my hot tub, which is 450 gallons, if you're familiar with the hot tub. So four 50 gallons. I have our salt system on there and I add soft skin spa once a week. That's it. And my, as you know, my salt system is hooked up to my home automation. Mm-hmm., so I can look at my eye care, make sure that it's converting enough, and then if it's not, I can go change it on my home automation just to have a different run time. Just have it run longer. Yes. Or shorter. If it's too much, I mean, I can adjust it. Or if a bunch of people came over and I wanted to boost it, I simply turn it on and then the next day it goes back to its normal schedule. Which are my hot tub of four 50 gallons. I run my salt system eight hours a day. You, I didn't. Okay. I didn't think you ran it that long. But but it's, it stays where it's, and the beauty of your salt system is, it's not a disposable cell, right? It's, it, it's, you put it in and once it, it's in, it's, it stays. And what do you, what do you have that on sale for right now? What's the that's also the same price as in eyecare, unless you bundle it with an eyecare, then there's a special when you get both. But if you were, let's say you already have an eyecare, you wanna get a salt system right now you can get a free whole kit of the soft skin spa also. So another $130, whether you get a salt system or an eye care. So your salt cells with same price as in eye care. And that's gonna last for. 3, 4, 5 years. I mean, what's, what's your life expectancy of a So it depends on the run time, like I mentioned earlier. So if I'm running at 24 7, cuz I have a big body of water where I want to keep my salt levels down low, then if I'm running at 24 7, it's gonna last one year. But in my case that I'm running it eight hours a day, mine's going to last three years. And you have a big high, four 50 gallons. Yeah. Mm-hmm.. And so in, in looking at it again, it's based on run time in those salt cells can be manufactured. It's ruthenium that is the metal that we put on salt cells. Mm-hmm.. And it's the thickness of that ruthenium that determines how long it's going to last outside of the run time. So the more ruthenium we put on there, which you look up the price of ruthenium, right? It's not cheap. And so we put on more than anybody else in the industry because we know that changing out salt cells and having frustrated customers, it doesn't have to be this difficult. So we just make it easy. And your salt cells have done really, really well. And I mean, reality is, is your salt cell buying one of those is gonna last three years. Where if you do the, the disposable cells that we're doing now, those last three months, so a year's supply basically is the equivalent of three years of year salt cell. Correct. So you're getting three times. But our salt cell, yeah, but our salt cell, let's say you have to go replace it in three years. Right Now replacement salt cells are $200 for, for years. For ours. Yes. So, so yours is actually less than it would be for a year's supply or a nine month supply of, of the disposal. That's. Correct. So interesting if you guys are all looking for some way to save some money in today's economy. Jim's got you covered and you still get your salt system, so. Yep. And our, our kits, our kits do allow you to install our salt system one of three ways. So there's a universal, and this is on our website that's actually showing all three ways. So there's a universal to where it's not the prettiest way of doing it, but allows anybody to take any hot tub and make it a salt water hot tub. And then there's the custom way which is a little more refined, looks a little better, actually gets the power from your hot tub. And then the professional way is the cleanest way of doing it. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend the average consumer in doing that install. I would recommend that they have a professional go do that install, but the kit includes everything you need to be able to do any one of those three. Any one of the three. So, Well, he's, I mean, you gotta cut, save money wherever you can these days and this, that sounds like a really good way to do. So I'm gonna go back here to comments. Katie says that her pH is trending up. It's turning up. I don't add anything until the eye care tells me so tells me, or if I see it above 7.7. And then she, she comes back with, I will lower it a bit before adding soft skin spa next week. Thank you. And then we have so just one thing on that is make sure that they have their pH in the target values, and I'll explain how to get to the target values for them to be able to check. But their pH range should be that seven two to seven six. I've had people to where they've had it seven two to 8.0. Well, if your pH is sitting at 8.0 and it's testing at 8.0, it's assuming that eight p 8.0 is okay. So it won't tell you to dose. So make sure that you're between that seven two and seven six. So the way you get to it is you go to the bow tie, you go to the gear, and then you go to target values and you'll see that pH range. You'll see your TDS or salt range, you'll see your temperature range and you'll see the what do I say, pH so it's, sorry, the pH, the temperature, the tds in your sanitizer. So the other thing with, if you start using soft skin spa, you can also change your O R P to 500 to six 50 instead of six 50 to seven 50. Okay, so, sorry, go ahead. Okay. No, I usually take the O R P A little lower than that, but But anyway, and then we have b B Hill Mobile welcome to the stream. And they say, does soft skin spas contain borates? I already use them and I don't want to drive them too high. That does. We do not use Borates. Okay, so that's an easy question,. So if you're, if you're using Borates you wouldn't need to use it Depends on what you're trying to get out of the soft skin spa. If you like the feel of Borates, cuz Borates will make the water feel soft. But it tends to be a little slicker feel to it. You wouldn't have to use Borates and Soft Skin Spa. You would get a similar feel. That's not as slick with just using Soft Skin Spa. Okay. I don't know if I know anybody that uses Borates, so I don't, I'm not as familiar with that product in It's me do that. It's mainly in pools that I see Borates. Yes. I don't see a whole lot of hot tubs that use borates. Okay. That, that makes sense. So we got about eight minutes left. So what would you like to talk about? So one I wanna make sure people know about the Cyber Monday deals. They're gonna be good through today. So we try to get all yes. So if for some reason and this isn't normally the case, we normally ship daily. So as orders come in throughout today they will go out tomorrow. But if they come in later today there is a chance that we won't be able to ship those until next Monday. We're trying to do inventory and everything else. I dunno if it's necessarily a good time, but So anyway, if there's a chance, but there's also we're trying to work out the logistics of still being able to ship a couple of more times this week. But normally we ship the same day. Yes. So definitely check, check out the Cyber Monday deals. And then number two is unbelievable. Those are great, great deals. Yeah. Never done it before and it's, you know, so we did a similar thing on Black Friday with, I mean, tremendous results. So we were very happy with that. The second thing is we want, we wanna make sure that people know how to get ahold of us. And you're more than welcome to email us at Info Ideal Water Care. We don't want people to be frustrated. There are people that I've helped personally that just have questions about, you know, what, what do they need to know about eyecare before they get the eyecare? Or once they have the eyecare, They're having some issues and if they send me a share code I can see almost everything that they see. The only thing I can't see are if you were to hit the bow tie and then the icon in the lower right hand corner, which is the person the little person in the lower right hand corner. Anything that is on that tab I can't see remotely, but everything else I can. So for them to be able to send me a share code, they would hit the bow tie if they're on iOS in that same location. After the screen shrinks, you're gonna see a little square box with an arrow pointing up right there in the middle. Yep. And it will generate a QR code and a series of letters and numbers. What I need is those series of letters and numbers to be able to view that remotely. Now, if it's on an Android, instead of the little square box with the arrow pointing up, it's gonna be the Android share button, which is a sideways V Oh yes. And then it's gonna generate again, a QR code and a series of letters and numbers. So we wanna help people and if they have questions, if they have problems I'm not, I mean, you can, I think as you've seen on any of the, any of the meetings that we've done is, I'm open to any question. I, I, if, if we screw up, we screw up and we, and we make it right. I'm not afraid of people having problems because it's the one way that actually shows them or proves them why they bought from us or they, why they bought one of our products. So we want to help. Just make sure they go to info ideal water care.com. Right? And I'll, I'll get that in the show notes so that you guys can check that out. But that's info ideal water care.com. And he'll do, Jim will definitely get you taken care of, and if you get stuck, you can definitely get ahold of me and I can get you in touch with him. You can also the Facebook group, clean your filters, that, that's actually the name of the group is Clean Your Filters. And I've actually brought Jim in on that. He's an administrator on that now as well, so that he can he sees all, all those questions and he's, he's really active in there and so that's a good, good place to find him as well. And he's happy to answer questions there. A couple things here. You're gonna like this question, MC Hey mc, welcome to the podcast. And it says, why do you not have to replace his salt cells? Why don't I? Yes. So it's not, it's not that you don't have to replace them, they're just lasting longer than everybody else's. So again, they're gonna last one to three years.. And it's because of the amount of rium that we're putting on there. We also have different technology that different technology. Most salt cell plates are two flat platelets in over a period of time. If one of those platelets the, the ruthenium gets worn out than the cell dies if there's calcium that builds up on those two platelets, then it can't transmit those molecules of salt over to chlorine. So our salt cell looks like a honeycomb, so it technically doesn't need flow to function. And so it's water has, it's going through it both directions, both through the two plates, but also through the platelets themselves. But to go change that, we make it super easy. There is a quick connect that's typically down by the equipment compartment area, and you unscrew that. You pull the old cell out, you put the new cell in, it can only plug in one way and you have a little nut that you tighten up. It almost looks like similar a similar connection to what you would have for outdoor lighting. Because we're dealing with low voltage mm-hmm. just like outdoor lighting. So it's super easy to be able to change those cells out. But hopefully that answers this question. It's, it's because of the cell technology that we're using. It's a different type of flow through technology. And again, the amount of, the amount of ruthenium that we're using. We've also designed our salt system to work to 12, or sorry, 2,500 gallons. So most salt systems and hot tubs are function, are trying to be built for a 500 gallon hot tub. We overbuilt it to work up to a 2,500 gallon body of water. So for it to be able to take care of 500 gallons, it's not any big deal. So, which is, it is really awesome, and I have one I gotta put it on. I haven't yet, but we, I'm waiting for him to ask, keep asking me why if I, if I did it mm-hmm. But I do have one and to put on, but just, just so you understand, it's, it doesn't use the housing that the freshwater salt systems are using. It's, it's actually kind of plumed into the filtered area. So it's, it is a little different and it's, so it doesn't use that housing. So just, just so you understand that. And let's see. Richard Bolton. Hey, good to see you. It's been a little bit, he says hello. Ordering the eye care today in your book too. Awesome. Been waiting a long time for a deal. Well, this is the deal. This is definitely the deal. Make sure you go to Ideal Water Care to get that because that's where that's gonna be. And then get the book on Amazon. So that is fantastic and appreciate it. And if you like the book, make sure to give it a review. Review that Jim and then Katie says Customer service is superb. I contacted it several times in the first couple months. Thank you. Thank you. So I know you've worked with Katie quite a bit. Katie's had her I care, I bet, probably a year to a year and a half by now. And that's gotten really, really well with her. So good. Okay. Anything else you wanna throw on there before we wrap her up? No, I just, well, I guess just to say thank you, I mean, what you've done for people in general in helping them and educating them is it's pretty remarkable. And I, I don't know how many people truly do appreciate the knowledge you give to everybody, but you help a lot of people. And so from all the people that are online and for myself to just say thank you, well, I appreciate that. Thank you. It's, I, I enjoy it. I do, I do love it. And I love helping and I love answering all the questions and, and keep asking questions. Guys, that means all the world. And I, I, Jim and I talk a lot. We, we probably visit a couple times a week and it, it's just fun. To see stuff and, and, and to see things grow and to, and to, you know, as, as things get bigger, you know, as the channel membership gets bigger, as the following on YouTube gets better, my goal is to hit 5,000 by year in. So if you're not subscribed yet, make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel. I'm so close. I'm like, it's gonna be right there, but I'd like to do it by, by the end of the year. So if anybody could subscribe to that, that would be great. But, you know, the Facebook page, the website, your website all the things, they're just, they're all growing and it's so fun to watch all of it. And it's, it's fun to watch it, watch people get it cuz they always end up getting it and when they get it, . It's, it's pretty fun to, to see that. Yep. And I agree, hot tubs are, they're amazing and everybody should have 'em. I, I, I'm a big believer in hot tubs and, and I really think that's a, that's a big deal. Katie, Katie does say yes. Thank you. The channel has helped so much. Well, Katie, thanks for, for following and supporting and that means all the world to me. And I hope you guys all had a great Thanksgiving. Get online, get, get your cyber deals while you can. And by all means, thank you for helping me help you become happy hot tub owners and I will see you guys next week. Bye.
