Hey, Hey. Tubers welcome to the podcast Talk with a hot tub Liddy. I am your host, Jackie Johnson. And today we have a super special His name is Dan hammer, and he's just up to the interstate from me on the. In Fargo, North Dakota at hot Springs, spas and pool tables too. And we absolutely love Deanna and we are going to bring him on now. So welcome Dan. Glad to hear you. Hi. Hi Jackie . It's nice to be heard and nice to hear you. It's well, I could see you, which which was absolutely great.. So, hey guys, thanks for hanging out with us and just joining us today. We are going to talk, be talking about, we are gonna be talking about hot tub benefits and how hot tubs can help your health and help you do things longer and do the things that you love a little bit longer. So Dan, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, how how'd you get into this crazy hot tub world and all the things? Sure. Thanks Jackie. I really appreciate you letting me on your show today and, and visiting about, as you said, the, the mini physical, mental benefits of regularly immersing in the hot water of a hot spring hot tub. So it's good to be with you. My name is Dan Hammer. I work for hot spring spas and pool tables too in Fargo. I have been now promoting. And selling our friends on the Wellness of Hot Water now for six and a half years. Wow. I grew up just north of where you live, Jackie. Mm-hmm.. I grew up in SIS and South Dakota. And from there went on to Black Hill State in beer couple years where so enrolled at Black Hills State and Spearfish. Spent two years out there and had so dang much fun. Oh my God. I loved Spearfish. I loved the Black Hills. I loved going grouching. I loved going biking, I loved going biking. And then after two years went by, I went, You know, I'm having a really, really good time, but maybe now I should get serious about this. So transferred to more head. Finished up there and spent a bulk of my, a dive in, in the broadcasting industry. And most of that all of it has been here in, in North Dakota, whether it's been Fargo, I was the sports director at the NBC affiliate in Fargo for several decades, and then worked for Midco Sports Network for a while and spent, you know a long time in in radio and television. And while I was in radio and television, one of my endeavors was, at one point in my career, I was the sports director at, at the local NBC affiliate, but I was also selling advertising for a while. And one of my clients, one of my customer, Were a couple by the name of Connie and Dennis Olson, and they owned a business over in Ner Drive in Fargo by the name of Creative Hot Tubs and Pools. And it was mostly Connie that I dealt with at the time. And, and one afternoon I'm visiting with Connie in the showroom off Ner Drive. And a gentleman walks in the door and, and Connie looks at me and says, Oh, by the way, Dan, I should probably mention to you we're selling our business and. And this gentleman right here Vince, this is Dan. This gentleman is, is buying our business. And the gentleman that walked into Connie and Dennis's showroom that day was Vince Weer, as you know, and is the president and owner of Hot Spring Spas and pool tables too. And Vince was visiting Connie and Dennis that day as they were kind of finalizing the plans for Vince to buy the business. And so I met Vince even before he had physically moved to Fargo. And at about the time that he was buying at that time, creative hot tubs and pools from Connie and Dennis met him initially and he and I just hit it off and became friends immediately. We had a lot of common interests and and so at that point, as I became better friends with vi. And as anyone knows, if you're around Vince, you are being educated and you are being excited about hot tubs and what a hot tub means for you. So being around Vince, I kinda got to know about hot tubs, the benefits of hot tubs. I obviously got to know much more about, you know, hot tubs than I knew in my life. And got to know the business too, just hanging around Vince quite a bit and, and he and I had talked about, you know, maybe, you know, going to work and me working for him, you know, prior to when I did and, and back six and a half years ago when there was an opportunity to do so. As when I was fortunate enough to be hired by Vince and, and now have spent the last, last six and a half years with hot spas and pool table. Well, and you're a hundred percent correct if Vince will definitely give you the, the bug. If, if you, if you visit with him long enough, you are going to be living, breathing, and knowing everything there is about hot tubs. Right. And every day made better is definitely a way of life for you guys. And when I need to pick me up, he's the guy I call. So I'm, I'm kind of jealous that you get to hang out with him on a daily basis.. Yeah, I I thought maybe I would see him actually over at the Warehouse today and how Vince spends more time over here than our actually our, our showroom. And and yeah, but he he is certainly one who not only, I think local and regionally, but also nationally has, has. You know, a, a big part of, of why we've seen growth in our industry how we go about educating and, and learning about people's needs and, and, and sharing with them just the many, many benefits of, of hot tubs and what immersing and hot water can do for us. I think Vince has certainly, you know, been a, a leader locally, regionally, and nationally of that. Yeah, he definitely has. And in fact, I was on a Zoom call with him this morning with some, with some regional people and it was just really great to hear him talk again cuz when he gets passionate and he starts going, he just goes and it's, it's awesome. And hopefully we can share a little bit of that passion, passion of his today because we just, you know, you hot springs in general, their, their tagline is Every day made. And I get it and I know it, and you and all my listeners here, you guys all a hundred percent hear that all the time. And, but nobody does it better than the store up in Fargo. And so you are, you're now living it. You tell me what every day made better means. You know, Jackie, every day made better could mean, I mean, a, a number of things every day made better. Could be someone calling the showroom, having a question about the operation of their hot tub. And, and you or me at that point being able to answer that question and solving that question for our customer. That could be every day made better, every day made better. Could be someone who is maybe in the need of a new hot tub cover. And and we can help them with that, but also educate them on, you know, besides your traditional hot tub cover, here are a couple other. You know, options for you when you think about a hot tub cover and, and, you know, other than a regular vinyl hot tub cover. So every day made better, I think can, can take on its own life and it does take on its own life. And I think it depends upon, you know, what that customer's need is at that moment. And, and for us to be able there and answer that question, give them a solution, and that can be defined, I think as every day made better. tho. Those are really good explanations and, and you guys do it incredibly well. And I just, you guys really pump me up every time I get to talk to you. One of the reasons I asked you to be on the show today is, it was probably six months ago, might have been in a little longer ago, but you had a gentleman that was shopping for a hot tub and I believe you did a YouTube video about it and they were talking about their knee. Does that sound familiar? Definitely. Okay. Tell me the story. Tell I think that's something that people need to hear. Yeah. So I had a customer who came into the showroom. Gosh, time flies. Jackie. I think Brad has had us hot tub now for, I know he has for more than a year, because I know it's been two seasons of open water fishing. I'll get back to that. And Brad walked into the showroom. Brad is what you would call. Older than average customer. Okay. Okay. So, so Brad is is is active. He's a little bit older than average. And as I visited with Brad, I mean, it was apparent that the number one reason that he was even considering investing in a hot tub was 100% health related and wellness related. And as I visited with Brad, I discovered that Brad had knee issues and he still carries on a very active lifestyle, active lifestyle in regards to a business that he's still involved in, active lifestyle, that he's an avid fisherman and ends up on Devil's Lake almost every weekend. But Brad was. Worn down a bit by some ongoing knee problems. And, and he basically, on several occasions during our visit, said, Point blank, Will this help me? And I said, Brad, I, I know it will. I said, I, I've heard it from many other customers have also initially thought, Why am I going to invest in a hot tub? Because I want to address this particular health or wellness situation. And Brad decided to buy a hot tub. He bought a hot spring envoy. And and I see Brad from time to time because he'll venture in and venture in and get his water tested and we'll visit in the showroom room. And, and, and Brad, even just a couple months into his hot tub ownership experience was telling me how he had had big time benefits. From using his hot tub on a regular basis. And he, he's a, he's a user, he gets into it right into the water a lot during the course of the week, but Brad has seen direct benefits specifically to his knees. And his knees would bother him if, even if he had been out fishing for several, you know, hours, you know, 3, 4, 5 hours and, and sitting for the most part, maybe getting up every now and then to net a fish or to, to, you know, land a fish. But he was, he was having knee problems virtually all the time, and it was, it was wearing down on him. Anything that we have that might, you know, you know, create pain mm-hmm., it's, it's, we're wearing physically and wearing mentally, and Brad was feeling that, and, and Brad is, is so happy and he's relieved he. Found relief physically with his knees. And that has helped him find some relief in, you know, mentally as well because he's just, he's not stressed out. He's not worn down by the pain that he was having a lot with his knee problems. So it's just, it's one of many, many stories that I know that my customers share have shared with me. And you as well, Jackie, your customers have customers have shared with you when, when they have shared with us initially, one of the reasons why we're thinking about investing in a hot tub is we have this going on and it, it's, it's crazy, isn't it? I mean, you, I get a lot of people and you can just see the pain in their backs when they come in and they're just, they weren't ever really thinking about a hot tub, but you can just tell that they're dying in pain. And I, I currently, I have to get a double knee replacement here in January. And so this double, You have double coming in January, huh? Double coming in January. I'll probably do one in January and probably do another one in late February, early March. But I've had, my knees have really been bad this year, and because I'm in pain, I can sympathize with those people even more because everything you just said when it comes to, I mean, it's, it's on your mind constantly. You cannot let it go. And so when you have that, this knee pain and or this back pain or ankle pain, or shoulder pain or what, or whatever it is, and it, it's just consumes you and it consumes your sleep, it consumes your happiness, it consumes everything. And when you can get in this hot tub, and even if it only gives you that 20 minutes of relief while you're in there, because you are going to be relieved while you're in the hot tub. it changes everything because it's 20 minutes, you can get away from it. And reality is, is you're gonna feel better in general because it is a giant bowl of medicine in your backyard and mm-hmm that 20 minutes, you feel better today. If you use it again tomorrow, you're gonna feel 21 minutes better and you are going, your body is going to get to recover. And one of the things that my doctor told me, this was years ago, and I had actually had a slipped a bulging disc in my back and I couldn't sleep. I just absolutely couldn't sleep. And what he told me was, is if you're not sleeping, you're not healing. You, you cannot get better if your body isn't sleeping. That's the only time you recover. Mm-hmm.. So not only is the hot tub relieving the pain, it helps you sleep better. And, and we know that, We all know the how that works. We know it heats up your, your internal body core and your body can't fall asleep unless, unless your temperature's dropping. So that's one of the way that can do that. It also helps with the blood circulation and all the things. So, I mean, there's just two things right there that make your hot tub feel better and that make you feel better, and then that makes you get to do what you love longer. So I don't know if you got to see the thumbnail that I put up for our, for YouTube today, but the video or the picture that you sent me was you fishing. And that's something you love to do and I know that it is. And, and, and we all have our, our passions when it comes to hobbies mm-hmm. Whether it's fishing. Like Brad, who we just talked about, whether it's me, whether it's running, walking, biking. But at the end of the day age, age is, is not defined by a number. Mm-hmm., what, what that number is on your birth certificate and, and your driver's license. I mean, age is not defined by that. Age. In, in many ways can be defined as well, what do I like to do? You know what Right. What bring, what, what, what brings me happiness? What, what brings me joy? Where's my head space, so to speak, whether it's in the boat fishing or, or traveling or biking or hiking, whatever, whatever that is. What do I like to do? What brings me joy and happiness? How do I recover from that so I can make sure I get to keep taking part, doing that? And, and that's why water. Hot water. Immersing in hot water of a hot tub is, is so beneficial for all of us because it, it helps us sustain both physically and mentally, those things that we enjoy doing so we can keep doing them. And, and I think that's a big part of the mental wellness set is a, is a byproduct of regular immersing in hot water as well. Oh, for sure. And if you feel like doing it, you will do it. Yeah. If it's something you enjoy and you feel like doing it. So there's, like, for me this year I couldn't get into the swimming pool cuz it was too much of a get up and over the, the wall. I love my swimming pool. I think it's the greatest thing ever, but I, I couldn't do it and so we just, it was just one less thing I did. So I found myself working more and, and doing things that way. And when, when I'm doing that, I mean, I love my work, don't get me wrong, but. I couldn't join the pool. I couldn't enjoy the motorcycle cuz it's getting up and on it and, and all those things. And I actually do enjoy working out. I'm not a, I'm not a nut like, like vent, but, but I do enjoy working out, but I'm not doing that right now. And all of those things improve your life in every way possible. And if sitting in the hot tub helps, and it does, and I don't wanna take anything away from that, but that's where I'm at and mm-hmm. I I, you just wanna help these people and get these people in a better state. And it is physically, it is mentally, mentally, spiritually, relationally, all the things. I mean, one of my favorites is the, the conversations that you have in hot tubs. I mean, I'm, I'm sure you have stories of something that's happened. I mean, in the hot tub where. I mean, you've gotta have a customer story or something that's been, you know. Yeah. And, and it, it, I do. And it, it's actually one of those things that when you hear it from a customer, you're, you're reminded of, of how the benefit of the hot tub is, is going beyond what their expectations were. So several months ago, I say hot tub to a gentleman who was about 25 miles outside of Fargo Morehead, and he and his wife have three teenage daughters. So anyone who has had kids in high school know there's a certain amount of little stress involved of having a youngster in high school. Let, let alone three, three , three high schoolers, and all daughters. And and Dwayne came in again, I would say probably three months after he had purchased his hot tub and. I'm visiting with Dwayne and asking him how things are going and what kind of questions that he had. And after we had chatted for a few minutes, he said, You know, Dan, there is one thing he said that I didn't see coming from our hot tub. And I said, What is that Dwayne? He said, You know what Dan, we have found it to be great non device family time, right? I said, Well, tell me more about it. And he said, Well, I dunno if you remember I have, we have three teenage daughters. I said, I remember that. And he said, We have found the hot tub to be all worst setting, where the five of us, mom, dad, three teenage daughters can sit down, look at each other, eye to eye. Talk about things, How are things going and not have, not have a device in hand that might be taking us away from those healthy conversations, those healthy memories we find ourselves now making in the hot tub. And, and, and, and he never saw that coming. And yet it's, it's one of the things that he was most excited to share with me about his, the family's first few months of hot tub ownership. Well, for them, it's just great non device family time. Mm-hmm., isn't it? It's, it's just crazy. I mean, now with the TikTok and the Instagram reels and I can find myself getting, just doing stupid stuff, like I'll spend 45 minutes on the phone just scrolling through TikTok videos and. Why, I mean, what am I getting out of that? What is right? And you knows, and the next day really not remembering anything that you had seen. Right. So, and most times it's not impactful. No. But it, it, that's something else that's very habit forming, right? So mm-hmm.. So and, and yet, you know, so knowing how habit forming our devices are and how much time we're on our devices for, you know, the mori in Barnesville to find that the hot tub is, is really a, a, a piece of relaxation a piece of family time mm-hmm. that they look forward to, to sharing on a, on a regular basis. So, and people don't expect that. They don't know that that's coming. They don't know that that's a benefit you're gonna get when you purchase a hot tub. And I did a site inspection the other day, and I've told this story before. But I went and did the site inspection for this gentleman. He had two teenage sons, and, and the relationship was a little, a little taxed. I mean, it was, you know, it's teenage boys and they wanna do their thing and dad's trying to be a good dad, good Christian dad. Trying to get 'em to, to follow the ways that they need to follow. And, and the boys just wanna have fun and, you know, And I was talking about how with my boys, the hot tub was, was always someplace where we hung out and we talked. And I didn't realize that until my youngest, who's, who's now out of the house, he actually has a. He would, he never used to like the hot tub until I got a saltwater hot tub. And cuz he had psoriasis and then his, his skin was always itchy. And then once I got saltwater hot tub, he wanted be in there all the time. Well he lives in Sioux Falls, I live in Watertown and he was going to school up here in Watertown and he'd come over 10 30, 11 o'clock at night and he, he'd wanna use the hot tub almost nightly and I thought it was just cuz I got a salt water hot tub. Well come to find out that was, that's when he would talk to me and that's when he knew he had my attention and I didn't figure that out until he was back living in Sioux Falls, got his girlfriend. His life is happening now and he's doing great and life is fantastic. But I didn't figure that out until he and I sell these things, how I didn't figure that out. But until he came home, he called and says, Mom, I'm coming up to use the hot tub. I'm like, Great. And I had a lot going on and I'm like, Go ahead and use it. And he's like, Well, no, I need you to come use it with me. I'm like, We know how to do it. And he's like, That wasn't the point. And for me to figure that out and after he is out of the house, before I figured that out, that that meant he wanted to talk to me. And you know, when you're 13 and 14 year olds are telling you things that you, they shouldn't be telling you because the things that their friends are doing in that type of thing, they need that parenting. They need that parenting now more than they ever, ever have. And if that's the place you gotta do it, that's the place you need to do it. It's so important. And it's a benefit that people just don't know they're getting from their hot tub. And talk about mental, I mean for, for your son it was, it was almost like the hot tub was his refuge. Yes. Right. Refuge as in resting spot. Mm-hmm. where he felt comfortable. He was obviously relaxed, he felt comfortable. And that's a really cool story, Jackie. Well, it's, it's, I'm mad at myself about this story cuz I could have took much more advantage of it. And I mean, and don't get me wrong, I got great relationships with my kids. They're, I love 'em all to death. And, and, and we, we can all talk at any time, but that was his way of saying, Mom, I need you. And I didn't pick up on it, but, but now I know if he calls and says, Hey, I'm gonna use the hot tub, that is definitely, that's what that's for. That's a, Yeah. That's a sign. Mm-hmm. that's a sign. Yeah. So, you know, I, you'll, you'll hear this too, Jackie and I will as, as, as we visit with our customers and as they get into hot tub ownership You'll see'em in the showroom and how's it going? And oh, we've, we've just so been so busy and, and you know, you know, Sally's got soccer and Billy's got hockey and we're doing road trips on the weekends and, and you know, we're just going, going, going. And, and, and I, I remember, you know, Scotty Iverson sharing one time a story that I think is, is so appropriate and, and so true and, and has a lot of value when you think about the busyness of life and, and yet giving yourself time to spend in your hot tub because your hot tub's ready when you are. That's the nice thing about it. And, and I remember Scotty saying one time, you know, all of us in our, in our daily life, whatever we do, it doesn't matter what we do, but our career, our job during the course of the day, we all have challenges and we all have rewards. And at, at some point of the day, we transition then from our work life where we have challenges and rewards to our personal life, which also we have challenges and rewards. And, and especially for those, for those busy types that that transition from their work day to their personal day is rapid. And it, and in many cases it may not include getting a time to relax must because they're transitioning to a busy, busy personal life in the evenings as well. But, you know, Scotty's, you know, of, you know, understanding that and being empathetic to that and just friendly reminding our customers of, gosh, you know, I understand my, my workday brings rewards and challenges and, and I'm gonna transition later today into my personal life, which also does the same, but dang it. If nothing else, just give yourself 15 minutes. Right? Just give yourself 15 minutes at the end of that, that work day. And it's almost like hitting a reset button. So you're the best that you can be for that next set of the day, your personal life, which also brings challenges and rewards. But that story has always stuck with me, with Scotty and I've shared that story with many times. And, and our, you know, I think our customers appreciate that story. I think they get it, and I know they've used it and, and used it to find out, dang it, that you know, that that 15 minutes as I'm transitioning was really beneficial. And it, that's really all it takes is that 15 minutes. And I, I'm pretty sure I've heard the same story from Scotty as well. And how it stuck in my head was that 15, 20 minutes you sit in the hot tub, that's the period at you end of your day. So this part of the day is over. Period. And that gives you permission to move on and do what you need to do and, and, and love who you need to love and, and, and just let it go. And with, with, you know, these crazy cell phones and, and all this stuff, and people can get ahold of you every single minute of the day. We don't have that anymore. We don't have the ability to shut that off. And it's time. It, it's 15 minutes is all it takes, and you're gonna feel better and you're gonna be better if you start doing that. No doubt about it. Yeah. Funny that you know, those of us who have had a chance to be around Scotty, we all have our mm-hmm. personal favorites. And that's one of my personal favorites that he shared and I've shared countless times as you have Jackie. Well, he's gonna be on the show here, I think in two weeks, three weeks. Cool. I'm super excited about that cuz he what he can, the magic that he can bring is Woo. Nobody else can do it. Nobody, nobody else can. It's not the truth. He does. Yeah. He is magical without a doubt. For sure. So I'm gonna stop in and check out the notes here real quick. Kayla says it's too dang cold in the Midwest, in the usa So hot tub is a must a hundred percent agree with that cuz and everything that comes along with the aches and pains and all of that. I mean, let's talk about that for just a second. How quickly a sitting in 104 degree water that can, that is the fastest transition your body can make. Oh, if no doubt. If you are, you sit in the sauna. Saunas are awesome. I love it. Mine's heating up right now. That's what I'm doing as soon as I'm done, Done being behind the camera today. They're great, but it takes your body a few minutes to get heated up like that. You sit in 104 degree water. It is the fastest. It's 25 times faster than anything else that you can do. Yes, And it gets your blood flowing faster, gets your heart pumping faster, and it's relaxing. It's lengthening those muscles. It's doing all the things that make you feel better, but it does it 25 times faster than anything else. Think about that. Think about that. Jackie. So I experienced this last week myself. You know, we had, you guys kind of missed the big storm that most of North Dakota had here about 10 days ago. And, and here in Fargo Moorhead, we missed most of the heavy snow, but we took a, a major downward turn in temperatures. Mm-hmm. and I felt it in my legs for a few days. I mean, it was right. It hasn't happened very often, but I did feel it. So you think about that and think about that. Water transfers heat to our body 25 times faster than anything else. So, sure. You can wrap up in a blanket or two, you can turn up the thermostat. I'm a firm believer in sauna bathing as well. Just like you, Jackie, and I love my sauna. It, it takes a little while, but there is nothing like water. To just make you feel better from just the perspective of being chilled cold and having some of those body aches that come with your mm-hmm. with your body and being cold. I mean, I, it's just, it's such I think a, a unique, one of the unique benefits of water is the fact that, gosh, just from a simple body ache standpoint, I'm gonna give myself that much relief and that much of a. And it's just, it's absolutely incredible. Can you do the, the foot thing as well as Vince can? Were you talking about how many nerves are in the end of your feet and, No, no. I, I, I can't, I mean, funny you mentioned it. He just walked in the room and he's supporting his Viking jacket today, which he does everything he is today. Today we're all just a little more jacked up because of the game yesterday. No, I can't, I can't recite the vending numbers like Vince, Ken . Well, he's got a really good, I'll link that video down below where he, when, when I had him on the podcast, he talked about how many nerve endings there are in the end of your feet and hydrotherapy, and having those jets on the end of the, into your feet. How that a hundred percent takes you from zero to a hundred in, in no time. Mm-hmm.. And it's just, it makes sense if, if your feet are massaged and feeling better. Your whole body is gonna feel better, and where are you gonna get that other, in your hot tub? Right. You know, Jack, you mentioned that you're, you're having double knee replacement surgery replacement in, in January. So how has that pain affected you and, and how have you found your hot tub to be probably even more of a, a benefit to you and more of a relief for you as you've, you're in this transition now where you're, you're heading to that double knee replacement surgery, but you've gotten to a point, I would think, where you have a lot of pain these days. How does that affect you? Oh, it's, it's horrible. I mean, it's, it's constantly on the back of my head, back of my mind because when, when I blow up, so my knees will actually, if they get bad enough, they'll blow up. They'll, they'll triple or quadruple in size and I can't put any weight on 'em at all. I. and that's constantly in the back of my mind because I never know when that's coming and when it does come, I can't walk. I mean, I'm literally on crutches and I love my job. I do, and I love this YouTube stuff, and I love all the, all the things I'm doing here. But when I can't, when I can't walk and I'm in so much pain and it takes me out, it literally takes me out from anywhere from three to seven days and I can't do it. And if we're running a promotion or something and I can't make it to work, that just doesn't happen. I just don't do that. Mm-hmm. And I miss my very first promotion ever in my hot tub history this year. Because of that, I was not able to be at the store when we were advertising. And that has never happened. And it killed me. And so not only was I in pain, the mental. Of, I'm not there for my coworkers, I'm not there for my customers. I'm not there for, for support. And to answer the questions was, that was almost worse than the knee pain. And, and that's constantly in the back of my head is when is it gonna hit again? And so can I, Do I sit my hot tub even more than I did before? And nobody, I ever would've guessed that it's possible to sit, sit more than I'm sitting now. But I do. I mean, it's two, three times a day and as it gets colder, it's, it's happening. Actually, I'm kind of scared once, once that surgery happens that I'm not gonna be able to get in the hot tub. Well, that'll be short term. Yes. But you, you're such an avid user that anytime that you will miss in a hot tub, you'll feel it even. Probably more than most people would because you're just such an avid user. Mm-hmm.. So, but, but I can tell you when my knee does blow up, I do recover quicker than I know I would if I wasn't using the hot tub. Mm-hmm., I know that for a fact because, you know, it opens up my blood vessels, it lengthens the muscles, my circulation is better and I can get things going more. I've had to get, get the the cortisone shot a couple times this year and yes, that helps. But if I can do that and hot tub, unbelievable. I mean, it's so think I don't need surgery. Yeah. Right. See, I mean, and you're, you're experiencing firsthand what, you know, other customers have shared with us is when they do have a specific. Specific medical situation you with your knees whether it's Brad NE's knees, my customer in Valley City or others it, it as, as much as we live this and, and eat this and breathe this on a day to day basis, there's nothing more impactful than for us to hear it directly from a customer. And I, I had a customer in middle of summer. He's a farmer about 25 miles north of Fargo. And Adam came in and Adam said, You. I'll tell you straight out, he goes, I don't know if I can believe, you know, the things that I hear you guys talking about on, on the radio, because he's a, he's an avid listener of a, of a radio program that Vince is a big part of up here. And he goes, I, I, I don't know if I can believe all this. I, I, I don't know if, I believe I will feel better because regular immersing and, and hot water is gonna increase my circulation. It's going to offload pressure from all of my joints and help me make me feel better from that perspective. It's gonna help me sleep better. I don't know if, I don't know if I can believe all that because I'm willing to try it. And, and the only reason that I'm about to invest in this hot tub with you, Dan, is because I need some help. I go, What's going on, Adam? And he goes, I go to the chiropractor four times a week. Right now, currently four times a week, I've drive to Fargo four times a week. They're addressing my, my lower back, my mid back, my upper back and, and my neck. And he said, I'm, I'm willing to give this a try. And so Adam bought a hot tub, and, and again, Adam is one of those that it's just so much fun to see him come in and see a smile on his face. And I, I know that he's gonna share stories with me about how this has been a positive impact on his life, you know, on his life. Right. He, he now goes to the chiropractor maybe once a week, and that's to address most of his, his neck issues, which are kind of upper neck issues. But his back issues have been basically melted. The issues have been melted away by, by him using a hot tub on a rare basis. So again, it's just, it's someone, you know, sharing with us and also in turn, being an another advocate. For what immersing and hot water does for us. And, and Adam goes, You know what? You guys were right . That's awesome. You guys were right about how much this is going to improve me both physically and mentally. If I use this on a, on a regular basis, it's like compounding interest. That's, that's so that gives me goosebumps cuz you know, you and I have these conversations. Vince and I have these conversations. I was in California here two weeks ago and having, having all these conversations with people, Because we know it. We live it, we breathe it, we love it. We're all in the industry. We do our thing. But when a customer comes back and you don't put the words in their mouth and they tell you that it changes their life, it's, I mean, it is life cha. It's a life changing purchase. It's, it's not just, Oh, I bought this thing and now it's in my backyard. It's, you know. Mm-hmm.. I just bought an elliptical cuz I knew I was gonna have to re get recover after my knees are, are fixed. It's a thing, it's, it's something that's in my backyard or in my gym over here. I hope I'm gonna use it. I need to use it. I'm gonna force myself to use it. But it's a thing. And I know people think that about their hot tubs as well. I know people are very concerned. It's gonna just be this thing, but you hear more and more every single. That people are avid users, not just kind of users. They're avid users because it makes 'em feel so much better. And, and, you know, and heck, it can help you lose weight. I mean, you can be sitting out there and it helps you burn calories and it's enjoyable. I mean, it's every way possible. It's absolutely amazing. So I don't know if you wanna add anything to that or not, but No, I just think you know, one of the, one of the things I think you get folks share with you is just and this goes back to something that, that you mentioned earlier, Jackie, is the value of a good night's sleep. I remember, you know, when I was younger and I'd tell people I was sleeping eight, nine hours a night, you know, as a, as a 21 year old, 22 year old, they'd look like you were a freak. You, you slept till, what time? You, you slept till 11. Are you kidding me? Yeah. I got, I got eight, nine hours of sleep. Well, you know, as, as we know now, I mean, more than ever we know the value of a good night of sleep because he's, as you said earlier, it, it's, it's when we are healing it, it, it's really the only time. Mm-hmm. when our body has a chance to heal. And, and when, when you think of, of the simple act of, of getting in your hot tub and relaxing during the evening and how that helps you relax and get a good night of sleep, you can't. A, a value number on that, that that's invaluable. Because you're just investing in your, in your own health and wellness by doing that. And if, if, if at, if at the simplest it helps you sleep better, that right there is is a big time benefit. And I've, as you have heard that from, from many, many customers, you've had those nights of sleep before that haven't gone well, Jackie. Oh, absolutely. And, and it, I just, you feel off, you just feel off your, your, your cognitive abilities aren't what they should be. Physically don't feel like you should be. It, it just kind of, and and for here to, to be able to hear people. Gosh, I'm sleeping good then I, I, I know the rest of the story is they're feeling good because if they're sleeping good, they're feeling good. Right? And well, and sleep, Sleep affects your mood. It affects your ability to function. You know, I was, before we got went, went on air, I was telling you, he was talking about, talking to Frank about how he just needed to relax and slow down a little bit more. And it's because he's not getting enough sleep. He's not getting good sleep and he just needs to wind down, sit in the hot tub, go to sleep, and, and sleep well. I need my sleep and he knows it and I go to bed. But I can tell when he is not getting enough sleep, he starts getting crabby and he's just little more annoyed, yells at the TV a little bit more. You know, just little things like that. And then if, if he gets enough sleep, he wakes up in the morning and he is singing and just dancing, and he's a good man and I love that But if he's not getting enough sleep, that's definitely affecting that. And one of my favorite Scotty ISS is that compounds. So if you get one minute and these numbers aren't real, but let's say you get one more minute, one more minute of sleep because you sat in the hot tub tonight, and then tomorrow night. You sit in the hot tub and now you get a minute and a half more that compounds and that compounds on your health that compel com, everything possible that compounds so hot. Tub is cu hot tub. Hot tub use is cumulative. It definitely, if you're feeling a little bit better today, you're gonna fill a little bit better plus tomorrow. And it's really important that you do that. And you do it consistently. It's in, when the people who do it, they come in and, you know, they get their water tests and, and you know who they are because they show up every single week to get their water test because that, that hot tub has to be perfect. Cuz they want to use it. They need to use it and they know they don't function without it. Mm-hmm.. Mm-hmm . So without a doubt I added, there was a guy that used to play football. For Morehead State now Minnesota State, Morehead, but, and Jim's a big guy. You know, he, Jim was a, was a lineman and, and, you know, after playing football his entire life and, and through college he, he, his body was a little beaten down. And again, one of those, one of those customers who initially had heard some things about hot tubbing, some things about what water does for us. But, you know, this was a little, little skeptical about it that didn't know for sure if he might find the benefits of it. And, and just another one of those folks who comes in and, and I don't see Jim as often. Jim is one of those guys. So he's got water care down. He, he knows what he's doing. So I don't see Jim as often as, as maybe Adam, the, the young farmer I referred to earlier, Brad, the, the older than average customer I referred to earlier. I don't see Jim as often as, as the other two. But Jim also, you know, still makes a point to talk about. He goes, It's the best thing I've ever had, best thing I've ever done. the best thing I've ever done. I, I feel great. Danny says, And it, it's it's made a big difference, you know, in him. And it, when you think about all, all of the things that are, you know, going on in our body, and I was reminded of this again last week when I had a doctor's appointment and, and the doctor is explaining to me, Well, the reason that you're feeling, you know, pain could be, could be this, but then that could be cause that, and the underlying condition of that could be this. And, and, and I thought to myself, my goodness, when you think about our bodies, And the, and the delicate nature of what's going on with our bodies and, and why we feel good and why we don't sometimes feel good and, and what water can do for us. It's just, it's an amazing thing. And, and Jim is is one of those who he admits he was tough on his body. He was tough on his body, but he doesn't want to look at age as chronological, even though he was tough on his body. He, he wants to keep doing things that he enjoys now and he has found his hot tub to be a recovery a recovery space where he can do that. And that is, again, that just gives me goosebumps when I hear this stuff cuz it's so cool. So cool. I'm gonna check in with comments here. Brenda Logan love your book. We purchased your ebook and we'll submit a review on Amazon soon. Brenda, thank you so much. I totally, but go, congratulations on that Jackie. Thank you. It's it's been awesome. It's, and thank you to everybody listening. It's been a number one bestseller. I mean, not overall, but in a lot of categories. There's, I think there's four or five categories that it's been number one, and thank you for that. You guys are awesome. And anybody who has read it, please review it. That's fantastic. But there's a lot of really good stuff in here if you're looking to take care of a hot tub, whether it's chlorine, salt, water, or at ease, your answers are in this book. So, and it's very easy to understand. And that's definitely, definitely what my goal was, is I was, I, I didn't wanna use the jargon that we use. I wanted to use the jargon that customers would understand. So it's out there, it's available. Links her in the show notes, so check that out. But Brenda, thank you for that. I appreciate that. And then she also says Oh my God, as a runner, I love those foot jets. So there's a reason for that, Brenda. I mean, it's, as a runner, you're putting a lot of, you're putting a lot of pressure and pain and weight and all the things on, on your feet. Your feet have so many nerve endings, it affects your entire body. And so when you can get those feet massaged, it's absolutely amazing. Yeah. And is there, is there a less is there a more abuse part of our body and a less appreciated part of our body and of our body that we don't pay attention to more than feet? I don't think so. Right. I mean, we've used, we abuse our feet no matter what you do, no matter if it's on at work or running like Brenda. And, and many times we, we don't address our feet very much. And Brenda's fond her hot tub to be, you know, one area where she can do that, right? Mm-hmm.. Oh, it's, it's amazing. I mean, I love my pedicures, but I feel just as good as my hot in my hot tub when I get turn those feet jets on. So Frank says, well said, You too. So glad to hear you're listening, Frank. Hey Frank. So people insisted and love you, Frank. Yes, they do.. They they do. They do. So they do. So we got about five more minutes. I told you to go by fast. You were like an hour. No way. So what, what's the one benefit from a hot tub that we haven't talked about that you think needs to be heard? Well, we touched on it briefly, but you, you get back to, you know, some of the core things that are going on when we get in hot water we become gravity free. That's huge. Unless you're working for nasa there's the only other place you can become gravity free is, is in your hot tub. So but I think the circulation thing, you know, is, is, is one of those benefits that, you know, it's a little, it's a little headsy. We don't want to get too deeply involved in it in terms of what it means, but mm-hmm. again, when, when, when you think, when you think of our body, and I get back to that story and me being at the doctor last week and the doctor's talking about this and how it's related to that and this and that and that, and a, and I call ties together because circulation is like that too. I mean, circulation is at, at the core of so many things that are going on in our body. And you, you mentioned a little bit earlier, Jackie, about like a, a tight muscle, well circulation. Okay. Think about, think about that pain that you have in your back or, or that, think about that pain in your hamstring. Many times it's like a king toes. You know, it's like a kink toes, which means a kink toes. That kink is restricting the water from flowing the way it should. A tight muscle, a tight tendon is like a kink hose because something is going on. Poor circulation, a strict, the blood flow, and, and when we get in the hot water and our circulation improves more than 100%. Now that kinked hose with your, the effects of hot water, those muscles, those tendons, they're, as you said, relaxing. Lengthening and now we're experiencing the benefits of it because our circulation is at where it's need to be, where, where our body wants it to be, where it is when we feel good and we don't have those kinks and those, those aches and those pains. So just something as, as as simple as increasing or circulation. And it's not simple, but a hot tub makes it simple for you, right? Because a prime benefit of getting in the hot tub is increasing your circulation. It's not simple. There's so much going on here, but a hot tub gives you the benefit that makes it simple so you feel better. Well, there's so many physiological reasons of why that happens, and we could spend hours talking about it, but your heart's beating faster. There's more oxygen getting into your blood. It's all the things. You know, a, an office worker. So we're talking pretty major stuff. We've been talking about football players and my knees and all that, but your average office worker has more lactic acid build up in their shoulders mm-hmm. than a bodybuilder. And you need to get rid of that. And how do you get rid of that? You get rid of that by increasing your circulation. I mean, yeah, you can go walk or you can go for a run, and please don't ever stop doing that because it's one of the best things you can do for your body is exercise. But if you can't exercise or you don't have time, or I'm not making excuses, hot tub really puts you there. I mean, it, it does everything for you. That exercise does for you. It's, it is very good for you. I think motion is one of the most important things that, important things that your body needs, but your body also needs what a hot tub does for you as well. So no doubt about it, Jackie. So, Anything else you wanna add? Anything? Well, I think just from the, from the mental state of wellness too. I mean, we, we talk about, you know, circulation or, or increasing your, your heart rate. But when you, when you think about sitting in a hot tub and, and, and that universal word of, ah, and, and just, just, just relaxing, flat out relaxing. I mean, it's, we, we got a lot of stuff flying at our face these days. I mean, more than ever. I mean, there's, there's stuff coming every direction and it, each thing might be a little bit different and, and it, it, you react to it differently, but it, it, at the same time, it has an impact on you. And, and so To be able to find a, a, a mental refuge of hot water is, is something that maybe our customers don't share with us quite as much sometimes as, as other benefits, but they're experiencing, They, they may not necessarily recognize it right away, but they're experiencing that, that mental benefit of just, just relaxing and, and, and giving our bodies a break in that regard. Yes. It's, you know, and, and at my house, the hot tubs in no phone zone nobody can take. Perfect. Yeah, there you go. Phone we do have a TV out there, but we don't turn it on all the time. And so when you were talking earlier where it's a device free space, there are no device free spaces, so I do challenge you to. Not allow the phones to come in and not allow the things to happen. You know, they're, they're, the phones are becoming waterproof now, so you could put 'em in the hot tub. Just don't . Just, just don't stay away from it. Stay away from the TVs. I do like some music and, and that type of thing. So the, the chat has perked up here. So let's Chris Wheatley says, I'm getting my hot tub tomorrow. I can't wait. So, Awesome. You know what that means? You get I might blow your ears out here, Dan, so hang on just a second. You get your air horn, so congratulations. I'm super excited for you, Chris. What are you getting? And how soon do you get it? So that's, that's pretty awesome. Exciting. Let go Chris. And Kayla says, Do neck jets are my favorite and. I so agree with that. I mean, with that commute I have every day, and most of you guys know that I have a commute. I drive an hour and a half every day, and once that lactic acid starts building up and I get that stress, I, it gets it. You know, it can take a week or two for that to go away sometimes. So I know that I gotta get in those neck jets and, and do that. So it's, it definitely helps out. Mm-hmm.. And then Frank says wow. Dan has a great radio voice. Well, Frankie's been doing it for years. He does sound pretty good. Oh, Frank So you know, I, I thought of one thing. You know, Go ahead. No, I was just thinking of Brenda, your, your customer who's a runner. Mm-hmm.. So I don't know what kinda hot tub Brenda has, but some of my customers who are Avid runners or bicyclists especially those customers of mine who have a high life collection hot tub, including the MO massage. They tell me that for their legs, they'll sit in the corner of the seat up on top and then hang their legs down. And now those two columns of water are sweeping up and down the back of their calves or the back of their hamstrings. And they love it. They love it. Oh, it's, it's absolutely amazing. So one of the things that's happened with my double knee surgery is I confidence overcompensating and my calf muscles are so tight. And when I consider on that motor massage and it goes up and down my calf muscles, it's absolutely amazing. So, I mean, move around. You don't have to sit in that corner seat and just hit where that jet hits you. Yeah. You know, move around, get, get the therapy that you need. But that, that's a big deal. And thanks for bringing that up, Dan. That's a big deal. Chris says he's getting a master spy. I've already paid for it, so don't tell me it's a good one. A hot tub is better than any hot tub, Chris. So congratulations. I'm super excited for you and, and, and enjoy it. Just, you know, if I could give you any advice is use your hot tub. Use your hot tub as much as you possibly can use it. You know, I twice a day. I'm a twice a day user. Most people, I, I try to get to use it every day. 30 day soak challenges coming up here in February. I'm personally probably not gonna be able to use the hot tub that much, so we're probably have to use Frank as my Guinea pig. But But the 30 day soak challenges is where you use a hot tub every day for 30 days. Just try it one time. Just use your hot tub every day for 30 days and track and track how much better you feel. If you go to my website, there's a, a sheet you can download as 30 day soak challenge. All those, all my free downloads are on the they're in the show notes. It's on, I've put it all under one link now, and you just go to one page and you can go from there. But it is absolutely fa absolutely amazing. So but we got Chris on here again, and he, I'm gonna ask one more question for you. And he says, Have you ever heard of using re retractable vertical blinds as privacy fences? Vertical? There's some horizontal ones out there that I've used, vertical, I've used with the Cavana. Definitely the way to go, way to go from with the Cavana, if, if you guys are looking for, for one of the best accessories you can add to your hot tub, that would be a cavana. It's a motorized cover that goes up and down. You can put screens around it. And so you either have privacy or not. Not a bad idea If you're in a place where it's not too windy, if you wanna give that a shot, you definitely can. So guys, I'm gonna wrap it up here. Make sure you follow my Facebook group. Clean your filters. Kayla's on there. She helps me out with that. We'll be back next Monday, I believe. Jim Walls is gonna be with us.
